How did its name come from a 1968 King speech, when the organization was founded in 1961? Dogru144 08:49, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I revised that sentence to clarify. Morris 19:26, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Group Notability

[edit]

While doing a quick google news search, not much directly involving the DMI came up. I think this article needs some more discussion of the group from third party sources. Is there much critical stuff out there that would be from a reliable source? (i.e., not a blog). --Rocksanddirt 17:03, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope so. A quick look by state (on their "themiddleclass.org" site) shows they rate every Indiana Democrat 100%, and no Republican, even Dick Lugar, above 50%. That, and calling themselves "progressive" and nonpartisan is about as dishonest as it gets.Mzmadmike (talk) 21:46, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the DMI article. Think it's ok to remove the "reads like a press release" label?Cory Ramey (talk) 18:22, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did some more editing and cleanup and removed the labels. By the way, the ratings are the percentage of a short list of votes on various issues that the legislator voted in agreement with the "middle class" position (as determined by the Drum Major Institute). Obviously it is not completely objective, and good people can disagree on things (like free trade with Peru) but there is an attempt at objectivity. Morris (talk) 03:33, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The tags were ridiculous given the perfectly acceptable state of the article. Please don't tell me that you slapped all those tags on the article just because you thought that "progressive" was a dishonest euphemism. This is an encyclopedia, not a chalkboard. 99.250.12.151 (talk) 21:28, 17 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
