Why is the place where his wife is from written as "Smyrna, Asia Minor" and not "Smyrna, Ottoman Empire" or "Smyrna, Turkey" ? It is as strange as writing "Paris, Europe" or "Madrid, Iberian Peninsula" ..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.118.48.138 (talk) 00:14, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article or book on Turnbull and the New Smyrna venture

[edit]

This article in Florida HIstorical Quarterly [1] mentions an article or book on Dr. Andrew Turnbull and his New Smyrna venture which sounds fascinating. It was apparently published at Gainesville in 1966, and I believe the authors are Greek, or at least of Greek descent: E. Epaminondes, P. Panagopoulos, New Smyrna: An Eighteenth Century Greek Odyssey (Gainesville, 1966. Just wondering if anyone has read this, or is familiar with it?
