Fair use rationale for Image:Diva2.jpg

[edit]

Image:Diva2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Plot summary

[edit]

There's disagreement on the order of events in the film, apparently. The summary at the moment is not totally complete for the sake of length but it still covers all the major plot points. The previous version not only switches orders of events (Jules doesn't spend the night with Cynthia till after Sentimental Walk) but also omits almost all of the rest of the plot which is actually a lot more significant in the film. --67.164.149.104 (talk) 08:07, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read WP:FILMPLOT yet? The new version contains far too much niggling detail. Also language like this "Feeling guilty, Jules returns Hawkins' dress. Although she is initially angry, she becomes amused and somewhat moved that she has such a fan" and "the two have breakfast together and Jules is given the privilege of hearing her practice her singing" is hardly encyclopedic and these are only two of several examples. These also contain WP:POV and WP:SYNTH as you are giving the reader your interpretation of what happens. One of the hallmarks of the film is that many events are enigmatic and can be interpreted in more that one way. Feel free to put events in order but leave out the flowery descriptions of events. MarnetteD|Talk 16:11, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

---Well, write a whole new summary then that actually gets the plot correct. The version you keep reestablishing has the plot details all wrong and out of order. --67.164.149.104 (talk) 20:33, 16 December 2014 (UTC) ---Okay, you know what? I just went and wrote a new one. If you have problems with it,please EDIT it, don't reset it to the original one full of mistakes and those "flowery descriptions" you object to.--67.164.149.104 (talk) 21:51, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I see you deleted it again based on length, even though it was comparable to the length of wikipedia summaries for films like Happy Gilmore and Alvin and the Chipmunks. I made an adjustment to the order of events in your new version AGAIN (Jules returns the dress BEFORE the Diva becomes interested in him and BEFORE the Sentimental Walk)... the accuracy of the summary is still questionable, some events are misleadingly described, but it's better at least. I hope someone else will come and make more corrections. I also can't believe you keep leaving the part about "Feeling guilty, Jules etc etc" when that guilt is never explicitly stated anywhere in the film.--67.164.149.104 (talk) 23:44, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just checked the plot summary. As of right now it's 687 words, just within the 400-700 word range on WP:FILMPLOT. So if anybody is going to edit it, please don't make it longer.Catsmeat (talk) 19:30, 15 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why wasn't it accepted as a nominee for Best Foreign Language Film+are there translations dubbed?

[edit]

"The film was entered into the 12th Moscow International Film Festival and was also selected as the French entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 54th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee." Why wasn't the film accepted as a nominee for Best Foreign Language Film? I have seen it, and it was mostly in English, with a few French phrases, some Italian singing, maybe even some Vietnamese, but almost entirely in English, which might be a reason why, except that I don't know whether what I saw was dubbed for English-language consumption or the original film. 2604:2000:F64D:FC00:D9F7:ACAC:457A:A412 (talk) 20:52, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You saw a dubbed version. The original film is in French. Only Cynthia has a few lines in English. MarnetteD|Talk 21:26, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cynthia Hawkins - Cast section

[edit]

Barbara Hendricks? Wasn’t it Wilhelminia Fernandez, as stated above? 147.160.131.20 (talk) 00:15, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Actress playing Cynthia Hawkins

[edit]

I've just watched this film for the first time and I was interested to know who played the opera singer character. I'm now very confused because the same Wikipedia page is saying it was both Barbara Hendricks and Wilhelminia Fernandez. This is very confusing. Ajs41 (talk) 05:04, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
