Progress Report

My next step is to change up my community outreach section, im still doing some research on information and how helpful the community is in this kind of situation. I also am trying to see if I can elaborate more on what a natural disaster without crossing over too much and writing to much for the page on natural disasters. Topic Peer Review 1

Peer Review: Each of you will be individually assigned another group to peer review. You will be graded on the quality of your peer review.

(a) Content: a minimum of 3 sections must be added to the site, including an introductory paragraph aimed at the general public. The quality of the added content will be evaluated

(b) Figures: a minimum original figure/flow chart/graph/picture must be added to the site. Again, the quality will be evaluated.

(c) References: a minimum of 6 references must be added to the site. The quality and appropriateness of these references will be evaluated. Note that references should come from all sources including textbooks, primary literature, review articles.

I appreciated the paragraphs regarding disaster relief and how the profession of social work is uniquely equipped to respond in emergency situations. The qualifications paragraph needs some grammar editing and I would like to learn more about HOW social workers are qualified because while the profession trains social workers to work with disadvantaged populations, there is no necessity to be disaster relief trained. There are certain schools that offer minors or specific trainings in this area, however, and I would love to hear more about that. Are there also possibly examples you can give of disaster relief that was handled properly vs. improperly? And examples of what some social workers did? I love examples. :) Looks great!

Adding to what Kristin wrote, you all did an overall good job. I particularly appreciate the list of resources for training and professional associations that you provided at the end of the page. As for edits, one thing that stood out for me in the "practice" section were words like "community", "facilitators", "systems and institutions". You may want to consider defining or adding examples for some of these terms to clarify for non social work folks. I appreciated they way you links for some terms like "self-determination".
