Release Date
[edit]Released on December 29, 2006 by Triumph Films and Destination Films
It's currently May 2006--It cannot have been "released" in the future! :P In any case, I cannot find any support that a release date has even been set yet, so I have removed the line altogether until a definant source can be found. --DMAJohnson 17:32, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Poor Marketing
[edit]Hey, everybody! I just found a new citation about Delgo's poor marketing : [1]. But I have nowhere to place this useful information. Let me know! Christianster94 21:31, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Requested move 28 July 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: moved - as much as I sympathise with the view that putting a failed film in front of a real place is sad, consensus for the move is clear DrStrauss talk 16:24, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Delgo (film) → Delgo – No need for a disambiguation page with two entries--just move one of them to the dab page and use a hatnote. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 22:24, 28 July 2017 (UTC)--Relisting. DrStrauss talk 19:01, 8 August 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. DrStrauss talk 09:19, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose "Delgo had the worst opening ever for any film on more than 2,000 screens." is a sort of notability, but don't see why in an encyclopedia it has to replace Delgo in books which is overwhelmingly the small town on the banks of the Nile. If Delgo was in the US, UK or Australia I suspect we'd have a substantial article on it. The current situation is fine. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:13, 29 July 2017 (UTC)
- @In ictu oculi: WP:HATNOTE explicitly says "When two articles share the same title, except that one is disambiguated and the other not, the undisambiguated article should include a hatnote with a link to the other article. It is not necessary to create a separate disambiguation page." ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:03, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- Yes I know that, but WP:TWODABS says two can exist. There's no contradiction. And there's no absolute topic here. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:05, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose – I agree with iio that this primarytopic grab putting a bad movie ahead of a real place seems lame. Dicklyon (talk) 05:56, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Dicklyon: See above. ―Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 20:03, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support. The film is the overwhelming WP:PRIMARYTOPIC with 96% of recent pageviews.[2] Even the dab page gets more views than Delgo, Sudan. A direct hatnote serves readers better than an unnecessary dab page. Station1 (talk) 07:41, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- Obviously a failed cartoon is always going to get more page views than an African small town - even a small town with a stop on Kitchener's railway and a temple built by Akhnaten. Which is why we have the first criteria, related to books and other serious boring shit, not just the entertainment value, Page Views. How does the cartoon meet the first Primary Topic criteria? It doesn't. In ictu oculi (talk) 20:09, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, but "a direct hatnote serves readers better than an unnecessary dab page" because with a disambiguation page fewer than 250 readers per month are aware of the seriously boring small town, but a hatnote about the small town on the much more popular article will be seen by almost 6000 viewers per month. Perhaps some percentage will be curious enough to learn something while raising the viewership of the less-viewed article. At the same time, the majority are not inconvenienced. Everyone wins. - Support per WP:READERSFIRST – while we should be cautious in favoring popular-culture topics over real-life ones, pageviews evidence is overwhelming, and the only real-life competitor is an obscure settlement. While WP:TWODABS permit the dab page, it does not mandate it. No such user (talk) 10:39, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
- Support. The page view evidence and coverage suggests this is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC.--Cúchullain t/c 19:52, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support I simply don't see a case for ingnoring the fact that this article had 96% of the page views. I could see a case if this request was made when the film was still in theatres or shortly afterwords but this came out in December 2008 menacing if there was going to be a significant drop off of views compared to the town it would have happened by now.--76.65.42.75 (talk) 16:10, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support Seems to be the primary topic here. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:26, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support per WP:2DABPRIMARY. I agree with the sentiments of User:In ictu oculi and User:Dicklyon, but User:Station1 and User:No such user make good points. As I note in WP:2DABPRIMARY, the having the film at unadorned "Delgo" will not inconvenience those seeking the town. The article will be one click away just as it is from the DAB page now. — AjaxSmack 22:01, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- Support – I added a hatnote for the settlement in Sudan, so the dab page is no longer needed. JE98 (talk) 15:44, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
