The lead section of this article has extra information. See MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead. It provides an accessible overview. Information in the lead should be in the body of the article too. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY. If one removes the lead section from this article, ith cannot be reconstituted from the body of the article. Not even the title of the essay is mentioned in the body text, nor is anything else in the lead. The opinion that this essay is Geertz's "most seminal work" does not appear in either of the citations, one being a (re)publisher's review for a translated publication of the essay in Russian and the other being the text of the essay itself. To sypport what is said in the lead, the article needs sections that discuss the publication history of this essay and the critical reception and analysis by others, academic or not.
