I contest this deletion. She is a notable scholar in the field of heavy metal scholarship.OnBeyondZebrax (talk) 19:46, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because Deena Weinstein is an influential sociology scholar. The Chicago Sun-Times calls her book Heavy Metal: The Music and Its Culture the "definitive study of heavy metal culture that "does for metal what Greil Marcus's "Lipstick Traces" did for the Sex Pistols".OnBeyondZebrax (talk) 20:00, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I also contest any deletion. Weinstein has produced a number of noteworthy works. Several that are unrelated to heavy metal music aren't mentioned in this article, perhaps because they reflect earlier interests. Her book Bureaucratic Opposition (1979), for example, is still cited in whistleblowing literature.IGB66 (talk) 18:16, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
