Why were these guys always on ESPN and what's their connection with sports?

The "Only Wanna Be With You" video has two football players in it in '95, so this could be a reason. Also, Hootie has had a golf match since '98 or so. This could be the cause for an ESPN appearance. - Thanks, Hoshie 11:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a little more info. The video for "Only Wanna Be With You" has an ESPN broadcast as part of the plot. Is this whay you are talking about? See [1]. - Thanks, Hoshie 06:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This 'band' was horrible. Ugh.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.14.148.51 (talkcontribs)

This statement is totally POV and has no place here. I respectfully disagree with the crux of it. - Thanks, Hoshie 11:47, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if Bob Dylan actually sued Hootie and the Blowfish. I can't find a reliable source anywhere that says that he did.

There definitely was an OOC settlement; added a ref Chubbles 22:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:H and Bfish.jpg

[edit]

Image:H and Bfish.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music Establishment and Hip Hop Culture reaction

[edit]

I was hoping to find in this article some information about Hip Hop culture's critique of this band, particularly of Darius Rucker being considered a "sellout" because he was an African American who embraced a mainstream, perhaps predominantly Caucasian audience. I recall at the band's height of success, hearing of interviews with Rucker who felt compelled to defend himself for this. I always felt it was an unfair, and in fact racist, perspective on his and the band's success.

Hootie & The Blowfish Blvd

[edit]

The band was recently honored with a sculpture and the renaming of a local street in the 5 Points area of Columbia, SC. Link: http://www.thestate.com/2010/10/22/1524574/hooties-monumental-night.html#storylink=omni_popular Lime in the Coconut 16:11, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is that a suggested addition for the article, or just chat about the band? Cresix (talk) 16:47, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Band Name Origin

[edit]

I heard many years ago that the band name originated at a bar one night through a discussion with friends of the band, rather than what is stated in the article (without any references, I might add)

Why isn't Fairweather Johnson listed under the studio albums?

[edit]

I don't see Hootie's third studio album in the discography??

Formatting Of Debut Album's Title

[edit]

In the liner notes to the 25th Anniversary release of their debut album, it is noted that the band's intention that the proper formatting was that the title be cracked rear view, all lower case. The notes for the album refer to it in this manner. Would this be enough to warrant a change?
