Spelling
[edit]Is it Trézéguet or Trezeguet? Mike J Martin 15:41, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how was his father's name spelled in Argentina, but considering that the lastname is French in origin, David probably uses the French spelling. Again, I'm just speculating. Mariano(t/c) 16:42, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- even his website (in the french version) use both :-/. But this site seems to have serious problems with spelling anyway. Madlozoz
I don't know the procedure for changing this, but it should be Trezeguet, without the accent grave on either e. You can check the French-language version of the official Trezeguet Web site (logically enough: http://www.trezegol.com/ ) and two authoritative French football sites, those for the L'Equipe daily newspaper and France Football magazine, http://www.lequipe.fr and http://www.francefootball.fr. Wikipedia is almost the only place I've ever seen accents on these e's. It would be useful if someone could redact this site and remove them.
J. Ritchie
On the Le Monde website it is spelled "Trezeguet" in reporting the final of the 2006 FIFA World Cup [1]. Also see articles at Le Figaro [2], and the French Football Federation website [3]. It seems clear that "Trezeguet" is correct, but given that the name of the article has been changed a couple of times today, this likely isn't the day to successfully fix the title. Jim 00:45, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- The best way to do this is to have "David Trézéguet" redirect (#REDIRECT David Trezeguet) to a new "David Trezeguet" instead of the other way around as it is set up now.
- His name is always spelled in French without accents. I guess that even if his name has a French origin, the accents were lost when his ancestors emigrated to Argentina. If his parents were known as "Mr. and Mrs. Trezeguet" on their passports, there was no reason to write it with accents on his French birth certificate. The only source that spells his name with accent is this web site. And I'm sure he didn't write it himself ! There's nothing on the web site to state it's an official site. Trezeguet
[edit]In the English language introduction article (not present in the Italian language) is said that Trezeguet "currently plays for Italian Serie A club SSC Napoli", well, this isn't true. Not yet at least. There are some voices on this possibility but nothing official. 17/07/11

Orphaned references in David Trezeguet
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of David Trezeguet's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

The pronunciations
[edit]@Yeyinpe: Hello. Your original Spanish transcription was transposed and then someone changed it to the proper order but now David should be pronounced [daˈβið], not [ð-]. Also, per Help:IPA/French, "The syllable break ⟨.⟩ is used sparingly", we had better remove syllable break symbols. Could you help to do this? Thanks. LoveVanPersie (talk) 17:16, 23 March 2018 (UTC)
