Dubious claim about historians

[edit]

It is highly unlikely that David Montgomery taught most of the labor historians now active in the U.S. Yale simply doesn't produce that many historians, much less that many labor historians. Indeed, a quick look around Wikipedia's "labor historians" category reveals almost none of them coming from Yale. There are thousands of departments of history in the U.S., and hundreds of universities which grant a Ph.D. in history. Most labor historians come from elsewhere, and were not taught by Dr. Montgomery. Montgomery is a terrific scholar and excellent teacher, but that claim is nonsense. - Tim1965 21:37, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
