PL521 engine inaccuracies.

[edit]

I owned a PL521, registered as a '70 though the serial number and body style (small side marker lights like the early 510's) pointed it to being manufactured in '69. This truck had the standard J13. Chiltons agrees with this and only mentions the J15 as being used in some overseas 720's. If I can find my Chilton manual I'll update the article but if someone else has the Chilton manual to look up page numbers for citation it would be good to update the page.
I've also heard rumours of L13 motors also being used in some of the trucks. Unluckily no citations

Proposed split

[edit]

Ok how many of you agree and how many disagree? I think that the Datsun Truck and Nissan Bushmaster should be split. (talk)

Identifying a Datsun/Nissan Diesel 720

[edit]

I wonder if anyone familiar with Datsun/Nissan diesel trucks can identify exactly what badges were used to identify diesel models sold from 1982 to 1985. On the 1982 and early 1983 Datsuns, it was merely just the word DIESEL placed below the DATSUN lettering on the tailgate (lower right corner of tailgate on standard cab models; lower left corner of tailgate on King Cab models). But on the Nissan models from 1983-1/2 to 1985, the diesel engine could be identified by the use of a small "DIESEL" badge (similar to the 1983-85 Nissan Sentra) placed on the front fenders just below the NISSAN badge, but no longer on the tailgate.

If anyone else can clarify these words, please do not hesitate to reply. WikiPro1981X (talk) 03:36, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sunny Ute

[edit]

I notice 120, 220 trucks from '55 to '61, but there were also 120, 220 trucks from the early '70's based on the B110/Sunny/1200 car. From my findings they are mostly found in Australia, and I believe manufactured there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Sunny#B120_series_(Sunny_Truck) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flight Risk (talkcontribs) 19:53, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Be aware that the x20 trucks and the Sunny based trucks are different. The Sunny based trucks are much smaller and have smaller engines.
The same productions numbers are just coincidence.
Australia assembled the Sunny based trucks from CKD kits.

L16 vs J16

[edit]

The 720 infobox used to have a link for the L16 engine. Now it has a link to the L16 but is piped as J16. The article text has no mention of the L16 but does mention the J16. Does anybody know which is correct?  Stepho  talk  01:14, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
