Requested move

[edit]

I would like to suggest that the name of this article should be changed to Disappearance of Daniel Morcombe. The article discusses the event more than the person and it is the event that is notable, not the person. -- Mattinbgn/ talk 03:37, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It summarizes everything notable about the person; and (as the only article to link here shows) it is easier to link to simpler titles. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 05:25, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I feel bad for Daniel Morcombe 49.176.216.109 (talk) 22:50, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 07:04, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

I believe it's very important that Daniel's photograph be shown on this page. Wikipedia has a huge audience and the more people see it the better.Bennish (talk) 23:52, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a photo? If so, please add. ABC101090 (talk) 21:30, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really appropriate to list this under 'living people?' The individual is the subject of a murder investigation. Jubeanation (talk) 07:18, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think its a dissappearence. It seems there is no evidence what-so-ever of anything. He dissappeared off the face of the earth.--58.111.134.75 (talk) 10:04, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Police have previously confirmed that it is a 'murder investigation'. Issue resolved anyway. Jubeanation (talk) 11:55, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jackway or Jackaway?

[edit]

Both spellings are in the article, and only one can be correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.236.80.165 (talk) 22:56, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even though it now seems he may have had nothing to do with the case, most sources about him are spelt "Jackway" instead of "Jackaway".NJM2010 (talk) 00:13, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

[edit]

The article was recently moved from Daniel Morcombe to Disappearance of Daniel Morcombe, should it now be moved (regrettably) to Murder of Daniel Morcombe? - 220.101 talk\Contribs 02:19, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not murder until someone is convicted. I do support a page move to Death of Daniel Morcombe. WWGB (talk) 02:38, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Point taken, which occurred to me too just as I hit "Save page"! The page has been moved very recently, and I personally don't think pages should be moved too often. Though, if one wants to be very accurate the "Death of Daniel Morcombe" is, unfortunately, now confirmed. (Thanks for correcting the testing date in the lead too!) - 220.101 talk\Contribs 03:26, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think it should be moved back to Disappearance of Daniel Morcombe. While unfortunately his death has now been confirmed, the bulk of the article is on his disappearance and the subsequent investigation. Lankiveil (speak to me) 21:54, 28 August 2011 (UTC).[reply]
So on that logic, if no one is convicted of murder then he wasn't murdered? That is false premise. Ajayvius (talk) 06:00, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are confusing murder with homicide. What if someone is eventually convicted of manslaughter? What then do we name the article? WWGB (talk) 06:33, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth

[edit]

Should be 19 Dec 1989, not 19 Dec 1997. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.101.39.198 (talk) 11:20, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. WWGB (talk) 12:22, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Coronial inquest

[edit]

There is gap in the investigation section. In the last paragraph of the "Ongoing investigation" section, the parents called for an inquest. The second para of the "Murder charge" section mentions "a witness at the coronial inquest in April 2011". There is nothing about the inquest itself. 203.9.185.136 (talk) 04:00, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. The coroners inquest ran from October 2010 to 2 April 2011, according to this source. The investigation itself needs a fair bit of expansion too, as it doesnt mention the undercover operation that got Cowan to admit to the murder, and show where he hid the remains and clothing, by making him think he was talking to 'organised crime' people who were really cops.-220 of Borg 08:19, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article title

[edit]

It may now be an appropriate time to consider moving this page to Murder of Daniel Morcombe. WWGB (talk) 04:56, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree-Perhaps after waiting a little while, to spare the feelings of the family? - 220 of Borg 08:08, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
