Expand article?
[edit]@Tiller54: Granted that Alwaysremember's additions were biased, but do you object in principle to expanding the article to include the council election? Isn't it the same election? —teb728 t c 01:40, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
@Cullen328: @TEB728: I had tried telling Tiller54 it is the SAME election, even moving the page to Dallas Municipal Elections as recommended but s/he insisted on deleting out the other races, so creating a new page was the only option to include the information. And really, he had gone through to delete ALL other candidates, and that is one-sided POV by flagrant omission. I am trying to help, and sorry if the frustration shows through. 01:54, 24 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alwaysremember (talk • contribs)
- Since Dallas has "weak mayor" form of government, having voted down two strong mayor charter amendments in 2005, I believe that a combined, neutral article about the municipal election is the best solution. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:28, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Editorializing
[edit]It may be the opinion of the creator of this article that the lack of contesting is "unfortunate", some races are being "conspicuously ignored", that "voters are being denied the right to vote", and that something is "what voters need to know". But those is his or her opinions. Even the sources cited do not express those opinions. In any case, as a matter of policy Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view. —teb728 t c 01:20, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for removing that; I have removed the POV tag. —teb728 t c 07:28, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because the article is about the city council race not the mayoral race. I don't see it being a fork. I see a lot of other issues, but it being a duplicate doesn't seem to be the case.

- I tagged it as a duplicate because it copies the original article almost exactly:
- The 2015 Dallas
mayoralCity Council election is the next mayoral election in Dallas, Texas. The incumbent Mayor Mike Rawlings is running for re-election to a second term in office against challengers Marcos Ronquillo andwrite-inRichard Sheridan.
- The 2015 Dallas
- Aside from a hatnote and the references, that is the whole article. IMO the articles should be merged. —teb728 t c 02:39, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- I tagged it as a duplicate because it copies the original article almost exactly:
As the chair of the City Council, the mayor's election must necessarily be mentioned in the municipal election article which had not yet been created and which the editor(s) of the mayoral election page [adamantly?] insisted belongs on a separate-but-equal page. I am cool with the idea of 2 pages that cross-reference each other. Can we get the Speedy deletion notice taken down now? Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because the contributors to the only other page which it might be consolidated with demand that the City Council races be kept separate from the Mayoral race. Unless the other page is altered to include the entire election, a separate page must necessarily be created to address the majority of the election. --DCdanielcaldwell 01:42, 24 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alwaysremember (talk • contribs)
- ...and re-titled. In any case, if you want to keep this article, you need to tone it down so it sounds like an encyclopedia and not an editorial, it is worth it! Try to write like you're bored...
Note to self... NEVER look anything up between starting edits and clicking submit because somebody else will make an edit that forces re-start on any change in progress. This makes trying to fix the things you ask me to fix sooooo hard, you know that? can we just say, give me a call if you have any suggestions? 512-761-5740 DCdanielcaldwell 03:29, 24 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alwaysremember (talk • contribs)
The creation of this article was requested by another editor
[edit]The edit history shows that Alwaysremember was asked to create a separate article for the council elections by one of the editors. Here is a second request to create a new, separate article.

Contested deletion
[edit]This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because after some moderation on my talk page, the article's talk page, and the Tea house page, it was suggested by the admin(s) that the page should be created to provide information on the 14 district races while referring back to the mayoral race. I am still trying to sort through how to make the recommended POV edits, though. --DCdanielcaldwell 02:23, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Dallas has a government structure unusual for a big city, as it has a Weak mayor government. The mayor is one of 15 members of the city council, the only one elected citywide, but has far weaker powers than most other U.S. big city mayors. This article should be merged with the article on the mayor's race, creating 2015 Dallas municipal election or similar. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 05:43, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Nothing special or Notable about regular City Council elections in any city
[edit]This article should be speedily deleted because it involves an "organized event that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant." It is a ho-hum city election. BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 06:01, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
- Reliable sources disagree, since they cover such elections. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:28, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
I agree with Cullen328 on this one; the local governments of major cities have state and national significance historically, economically, and otherwise. Examples: Chicago, New York, Houston, Philadelphia, Boston, and, oh, Dallas DCdanielcaldwell 06:45, 24 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alwaysremember (talk • contribs)
- I recommend inserting a new reference link for the Dallas Morning News Voter Guide [1] at the end of the second paragraph's first sentence or replacing link 1 with this.50.11.28.44 (talk) 10:16, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
