Untitled

Hasn't CTC now dropped the name 'Cyclists' Touring Club'? Isn't the name now simply CTC (sometimes being interpreted as 'Cycle Touring and Campaigning'? Should the name of this article therefore be changed? 194.73.118.78 08:26, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Afterthought: the latest version of the constitution is dated May 2000, still officially the "Cyclists' Touring Club".

Quote from p2 of the CTC annual report for year ending 30 Sept 2008. Publishing in 'Cycle' Apr-May 2009 issue. "'CTC' and 'the UK's national cyclists organisation' are the trading brand and identity used by Cyclists' Touring Club, the UK's oldest and largest cycling membership organisation' - so therefore I don't think the name of the article should be changed. UK and Ireland

Should it not be simply "the UK's largest ..."? The Republic of Ireland is a separate nation, and the CTC's presence there as a campaigning organisation is undetectable, as far as I can see living in the Republic.213.131.238.25 12:59, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Dermot[reply]

There's still a CTC District Association for Dublin and a few approved establishments (accommodation, repairers) in the country. The members' magazine now has "The UK's national cyclists' organisation" on its masthead. Reorganisation (sorry, "strategic development of governance" — the club has certainly changed since I were a lad) is planned to devolve power to "regions". Only three so far: Scotland, Wales and London, but more are promised. Northern Ireland and the Republic are designated to be separate regions at present. --Old Moonraker 13:41, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gap in the history

There seems to be a huge gap between 1926 and 2012 in the history of the CTC. Surely someone could write something on what happened between these dates? Improved lead paragraph (I hope), more needed

I've improved the lead paragraph. I think the article would benefit from the following improvements, which I haven't time to make today:

More in current activities.
More third-party references.

Change in organization name

As of today, CTC has rebranded as Cycling UK. This page needs some work to reflect this. The Parson's Cat (talk) 15:57, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The most recent issue of the magazine included an insert allowing the membership to vote - by post or on-line - on whether to confirm or rescind "Council's resolution to rebrand", so it's not set in stone yet. Mr Larrington (talk) 13:27, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
