The Victoria County History (1908) article on Wimborne Minster [1] identifies Cwenburh with Cneuberga, from whom a letter is preserved as abbess.
The PASE source page on the letter [2], from Ealdhun, Cneuburg and Cenburg, thinks it is a bit later, giving its date as 729xc.744, and has Cneuberga as the biological sister of Cwengyth 2.
The letter being from two abbesses plus an abbot presumably supports the idea of there originally being two female monasteries and a male monastery in the foundation at Wimborne -- to accomodate two royal female abbesses ?
There's also another abbess, Cuniberg 1, the recipient of a letter [3] in 739-741, that PASE thinks might also be one or other of the abbesses.
The VCH article also notes various traditions about the abbey.
Coulstock (1993) affirms in passing Cwenburh as second abbess [4], assuming she died c.735 -- though can't see if she had evidence for this. Jheald (talk) 20:44, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
