ERA B or C type?
[edit]Some sources list Harrison's ERA as a B-type and others list it as a C-type.
The reason probably is because the car was originally a B-type (Chassis R8B) and later updated to C specifications. From then on the chassis is listed as R8C
- The official ERA website says the car was updated to C specifications somewhere in 1938.
- Kolumbus says the car was upgraded to a C-type in 1937.
- MotorSportMagazine says Harrison bought Earl Howe’s R8B in 1947 and later they state: "It was updated to "C" specification and fitted with a Rootes supercharger when Harrison entered three world championship GPs during 1950."
- Naturally sources differ on the type of this ERA:
B-type ChicaneF1, StatsF1, Silhouet, ManipeF1 C-type OldRacingCars, MotorSportMagazine, leonardasf1.narod.ru
Should we list the car as a B or as a C-type? Jahn1234567890 (talk) 23:27, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
- The FORIX subscription site also lists the car as a B-Type. I'll keep looking for other sources. DH85868993 (talk) 23:39, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
- To make matters even more complicated, the ERAclub claims Harrison used a D-Type frame on this chassis. This website also has a convenient timeline list of all owners. Jahn1234567890 (talk) 11:30, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
