Not moved. bd2412 T 03:12, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Crime & Investigation (Canada) → Crime + Investigation (Canada) – I'm requesting this move as the name of the channel in all marketing is spelled out as "Crime + Investigation". This is evidenced by the following websites associated with the channel and its parent company, Shaw Media.
http://www.shawmedia.ca/advertising/television/BrandOverview.aspx?brandId=6442458247 - Channel profile http://www.shawmedia.ca/Media/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?pressReleaseId=6442460108 - press release http://www.crimeandinvestigation.ca/ - Channel's website
Also, by adding "(Canada)" to the title it distinguishes it from other channels that use the same brand worldwide.
The request is required because another user moved this previous title to its current title and the articles will need to be merged. Relisted. BDD (talk) 20:57, 5 December 2014 (UTC) musimax. (talk) 22:22, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per WP:MOSTM and WP:TITLETM, article titles should not be based on the official name and what the owner of the trademark is doing. Whatever the channel and its owner (Shaw Media) are printing on their marketing and official web sites are irrelevant. It should instead be whatever is commonly used by most reliable sources. Second, per the Consistency characteristic of WP:NAMINGCRITERIA, the article title should use the same formatting as the Crime & Investigation Network, Crime & Investigation Network (Australia), Crime & Investigation Network (Europe), and all the other associated "Crime & Investigation Network" articles. Based on a Google search, third-party reliable sources worldwide seem to use the ampersand more[1] than the plus sign.[2] Zzyzx11 (talk) 02:55, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose per MOS:TM, this should be Crime and Investigation (Canada) ; the "+" is a symbol replacing an English word, so the English word should be used. -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 04:56, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
- Move to Crime and Investigation (Canada), per MOS:TM. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 22:17, 18 November 2014 (UTC)
- Ampersands are not deprecated. Support move only to Crime & Investigation Network (Canada) per the examples of affiliated networks presented by User:Zzyzx11, or don't move at all. Dekimasuよ! 05:43, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- Comment: Contrary to what the nom says, there seems no reason to merge with the proposed target, which is simply a redirect with history as follows: 18:41, 4 November 2014 Xqbot m . . (60 bytes) (+7) . . (Bot: Fixing double redirect to Crime & Investigation (Canada)) 00:23, 3 November 2014 Xqbot m . . (53 bytes) (-9) . . (Bot: Fixing double redirect to Crime and Investigation) 21:58, 2 November 2014 ClassicOnAStick (62 bytes) (+62) . . (ClassicOnAStick moved page Crime + Investigation (Canada) to Crime and Investigation (Canada) over redirect). Talk page history is similar. All in all a rather puzzling RM proposal. - Question when someone says the name would they say: "Crime and investigation" or "Crime plus investigation"? See: + (Ed Sheeran album) gregkaye ✍♪ 23:51, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
