Length
[edit]I measured the distance to mouth of the Copper River from Cordova using Google Earth measuring tool. Not 50 miles as article states. Closer to 30.
Correction to above: Article would be correct if it specified 50 miles along the Copper River Highway (route 10) I think. I just assumed as the crow flies when I read the article (which would be closer to 30 miles.
"Major" tributaries
[edit]I cannot find any reference to the Cooper have "13 major tributaries" (leaving aside what major means) except sites that obviously are quoting from Wikipedia. Anyone would finds a reliable source for this concept is welcome to edit it back it-- or perhaps list these rivers. RangerRichard (talk) 18:18, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Width
[edit]I have removed this from the article:
- [The Cooper River] is a mile (1.6 km) wide at the Copper River Delta, near Cordova.
I cannot find any reference for this that doesn't relate back to Wikipedia, but almost as important, I'm not sure why the width the delta is the relevant measurement. RangerRichard (talk) 20:17, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Lake
[edit]I cannot find a reference for this statement and have removed it:
- Over 20,000 years ago, the area now drained by the great Copper River was a massive lake, covering 2,000 square miles (5,200 km2).RangerRichard (talk) 22:24, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
