Introduction

[edit]

I removed the following "Comet will only match Currys prices and not Dixons, despite the fact that they are the same company and state that they will price match companies with stores." due to Comet changing the price promise, and it seeming unfair. 109.153.151.59 (talk) 10:08, 27 December 2010 (UTC) Adam[reply]

Criticisms

[edit]

I removed the criticisms section, since they were all personal opinions without citations. If there's some kind of basis for these criticisms (market research or something) then someone can add them back in. Illuminattile 20:05, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added a criticisms section again under "controversy". While Wikipedia probably shouldn't be seen to be a vehicle for specific customer complaints, the fact that Comet is reviewed as having very poor customer service should really be covered, to present a fair and balanced view of the company, while still maintaining neutrality.

2005 is recent ? (Johnny Copper 22:06, 10 November 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Interesting to see someone remove all criticisms of the company. Criticisms added, with slight edits.

Someone started a section called "Britain's most trusted retailer". This reads as mistatement of fact, so the title has been changed to a more neutral "Marketing development".

As of late 2006, early 2007 the pay system in Comet has changed. The new system is similar to the older commision system. Note: only larger "Destination" stores were without commision, smaller "Core" stores have always been on commision.

It appears the article is being used for public relations purposes, so added the earlier acceptable "controversy" section to balance corporate PR with consumer experiences.

RE: Trading Standards - TS reported that Comet attempted to exploit a fine line between legal and illegal activity. Because of this TS advised they probably could not pursue the matter, but recommended individual court action, which was not pursued. Therefore Trading Standards did not reject the complaint as invalid, but instead recommended escalation via other channels. - Brian Turner —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.109.74 (talk) 11:41, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Distribution Facts

Within the distribution section it fails to mention the outbase distribution point in Mossend, Scotland which serves as a regional distribution point for the scottish stores. It also leaves out the DACEM/KESA international picked item ranges based in france. It also fails to mention any Home Delivery locations. I am personally not invested enough in this to seek out acurate sources in order to prove these facts but thought these points were all very valid and crucial to improving the quality of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.103.170.231 (talk) 07:22, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed uncited claim

[edit]

Removed the sentence "Comet is the leading provider of White goods (Fridges, Cookers, Dishwashers etc.) in the United Kingdom." Rojomoke (talk) 07:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed section

[edit]

I removed "However, Comet now has a much stronger approach and focus to 'customer service' and ensure every customer is dealt with politely and efficiently. when things do occasionally go wrong they will address and rectify the situation as quickly as possible.[5] Comet has been voted above its rivals in a recent customer service survey carried out by consumer magazine Which?.[6]" from the critisism section. A) Because its corporate crap and B) because it references their own page and a Which? article that doesnt exist. It is so obvious Comet executives are altering this page, im keeping an eye on it! (Although, if a neat paragraph is added that doesnt sound like an advert then thats all good) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.16.200.23 (talk) 19:59, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This page is rubbish

[edit]

It just sounds like a massive advert!! Anyone agree that it needs massive sections deleting? eg. The whole paragraph on the price promise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.157.66.67 (talk) 21:03, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.143.107.127 (talk) 00:21, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

script access

[edit]

To effectively access Comet's UK retail website users must allow Google script access to their browser, along with other third parties. This practice is not adopted by Comet's competitors. There is no 'text only' option for users with impaired senses despite Comets claim to follow UK Government Accessibility guidlines 79.66.220.75 (talk) 17:04, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
