Establishing notability
[edit]This article needs to be beefed up with secondary sources: Who, APART from the writers of the website, have claimed that the site is notable, and has gotten that claim published in reliable sources?
If that doesn't arrive, the article is likely to be proposed for deletion pretty soon. --Alvestrand 13:59, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Added several links from independent external sources (one label and several unrelated publications, including one outside the metal scene) in order to establish notability. Also added several internal references where appropriate in order to substantiate the article. --InalienableDreamless 16:17, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Looks much better - it would be good to annotate the citations with what they're poiting to - at first glance, they all seem to be weblogs, and weblogs are usually not considered to be WP:RS. Have any print magazines taken notice? --Alvestrand 05:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've tried to annotate the citations, like you suggested, to try and clarify what they're about and what the sources actually are (webzines rather than weblogs). Meanwhile, I browsed a few recent issues of print magazines I have at home and found one recent reference to CoC. I've also added a reference for that one; I hope I followed the citation template for these cases properly. InalienableDreamless 10:37, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Blackmetalbaz: Please provide some detail on why you tagged this article after notability had already been established in 2007. --InalienableDreamless (talk) 15:56, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Notability has not been established. If you believe otherwise, please point us to some extensive, third-party coverage in a reliable source that discusses the webzine. If that doesn't exist, it's AFD-fodder. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 18:10, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Yep. Looks like AfD fodder to me. There is obviously also a WP:COI going on with InalienableDreamless. An uninvolved person wouldn't spend 7 years (article created in 2005) promoting something. Nymf hideliho! 18:42, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- I have hardly been promoting anything for 7 years. In fact, I have only edited this page twice since 2007. --InalienableDreamless (talk) 19:47, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Every single edit by you relates to the website in question. Nymf hideliho! 21:02, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, that much is true. But surely my other edits, or lack thereof, are not relevant to establishing the notability of any given article. --InalienableDreamless (talk) 21:11, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

- Please provide at least one example of such extensive, third-party coverage in a comparable article about a magazine, preferably a heavy metal magazine or webzine, so that I can understand what is required in this context. I have looked at many related articles under Heavy metal publications, but they all lacked similar references. Even with large print publications such as Metal Hammer and Terrorizer, there are no references that show extensive third-party coverage (or indeed even as much third-party coverage as was already referenced in this article -- at least before you removed every web-based reference and left only the book reference). Therefore, I am at a loss for a relevant example. --InalienableDreamless (talk) 19:14, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:ChroniclesOfChaos logo.jpg
[edit]Image:ChroniclesOfChaos logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
