move page?

[edit]

his official name seems like it's just Si Won or Siwon. Should this page be moved? mirageinred 14:37, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Leave it as Choi Si Won. Although he's known by his "first" name, a lot of shows and articles refer to him as Choi Shi Won, so leave it at that. Incidentally, does Choi Shi Won redirect here? 'Cuz it should.SKS2K6 05:06, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see. Thanks~ mirageinred 13:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

File:Siwon ABS ~.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]
An image used in this article, File:Siwon ABS ~.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?
Speedy deletions at commons tend to take longer than they do on Wikipedia, so there is no rush to respond. If you feel the deletion can be contested then please do so (commons:COM:SPEEDY has further information). Otherwise consider finding a replacement image before deletion occurs.

"Super" Super Junior

[edit]

I don't think it's encyclopedic, NPOV, or verifiable to call Super Junior a "super boy band" in the introduction. Having a ton of members =/= "super". ...and I have no idea how to correctly sign this comment - sorry! ^^ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.250.218.169 (talk) 15:02, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:Siwon22.jpg)

Orphaned references in Choi Siwon

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Choi Siwon's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "allkpop.com":

  • From Super Junior: "Han Geng wins lawsuit over S.M. Entertainment". allkpop.com. December 2010. Retrieved January 10, 2011.
  • From List of awards and nominations received by Super Junior: http://www.allkpop.com/2012/01/winners-from-the-21st-seoul-music-awards

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 21:25, 8 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Youtu.be is blocked. Smart one, fellas

[edit]

Tried to link to the YouTube-based video that supports the reference to CNN's Talk Asia. Apparently, Youtube is an invalid website for linking to. It gets used for spam. So, rather than solve that issue by putting links under review, or abstaining from a blanket ban, no, let's just ban all five billion or whatever it is videos on the world's biggest and most significant video hosting website.

Smart one, editors. Really clever stuff. Well done.

And people wonder why so few of us bother to carefully research and edit pages anymore. I mean, the past half-hour of my life verifying this fact is now completely wasted effort. I'm not a fan of Siwon. I just wanted verification. I found it, but now I am COMPLETELY unable to finish that job by documenting it. AND THEN, to top it off, I lose the more succinct version of this comment because some autobot caused an edit conflict. You can use the full link on http://www.youtube.com, if needed - only the shortener is blocked. So, in your case: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3JY6aouSZ0?t=6m25s .--Dirk Beetstra T C 07:21, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Edits based on #IfChoiSiwonisCEOofSM

[edit]

Hello all editors,
I will address this once and for all. Please STOP editing Choi Siwon's Description with "CEO of SM" or anything related to this hashtag as per title of section.
Unless you have RELIABLE sources stating so, please refrain from adding such stuff to Siwon's Wikipedia Page. This falls under the category of the Biographies of Living People rule.
Thanks in advanced.

Birthday

[edit]

Siwon's actual birthday is on April 1986 but his parents only registered him on February 1987. Should there be a notation about this in the article? Froswo (talk) 12:47, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Froswo: only if you have reliable sources for the statement (not Allkpop, Soompi and co. but some reliable newspaper or interview where he says that). Teemeah 편지 (letter) 17:43, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just a technicality, not needed.--Chuka Chief (talk) 15:57, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cuka Chief: the note is there because his birthday has previously been incorrect and stated his registered birthdate rather than the day he was actually born. It’s been a cause of confusion and disputes among editors and readers for quite some tome, myself included in that. Super Junior's profile on SM's website even uses his registered birth date over the April 7 date. (as seen here, click on "members" and the icon under his name) while sources (in the article) confirm this is not his actual date of birth. There are still edits made to change this, as recently as yesterday. The note helps both the reader and editors. Alex (talk) 18:40, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
