Fair use rationale for Image:Chasebank.jpg

[edit]

Image:Chasebank.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

This article seems to be trying to do two things at the same time:

  1. represent Chase Manhattan, prior to JPMorgan Chase
  2. represent Chase, the current retail banking division of JPMorgan Chase

Because Chase, the current bank, shares the same history as Chase Manhattan, but the name "Chase Manhattan" is no longer in use, I'm going to rename the article Chase (bank).

Can anyone explain why it says: the Texas Company and does not elaborate on that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.86.211.241 (talk) 02:26, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Because the article was vandalized on 6 February 2020 and no one caught it.
The main problem is that there are several poorly educated editors wreaking havoc on the Manual of Style who have proceeded to alienate most WP editors, including myself. This is why vandals are running amok on the English Wikipedia and the project is literally falling apart. Until the Wikimedia Foundation comes to its senses and starts summarily imposing permanent bans which should have been done a long time ago, Wikipedia is probably going to be a mess for a while. --Coolcaesar (talk) 05:59, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The image Image:Manufacturers Hanover logo.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

NPOV issue with Zapatista section

[edit]

This section, as originally drafted, diverged from the NPOV standard. I have endeavored to report the facts without the earlier POV angle. Nandt1 (talk) 03:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know why, or who made it this way, but the whole thing reads like PR piece, not an article. CMB has been involved in varied controversies over the decades sufficient to fill volumes, but none are mentioned here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.68.134 (talk) 11:07, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Footprint

[edit]

Is there any way we can get a geographical footprint of Chase on here? The other three of the Big Four banks have footprint maps, plus several "super-regional" banks. 141.151.183.232 (talk) 02:47, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chase experiences

[edit]

I have had problems with Chase since the first month I a was a customer. First I got a very bad exchange rate when I transferred money from my European account, this cost me over 250$. After calling Chase for information on this strange rate I got they kept transferring me to different employees but nobody could

give me an explanation on how or who decided to give me an exchange rate of 1.25 while the rate for that day was much higher. I even

never received a receipt about this transaction, is this legal?? Now a couple of weeks ago I started to receive post mail about my account that would be restricted because Chase did not have all my

account details. My roommate who is also an international student gave exactly the same information but never received these

letters. I called Chase and they told me they needed a copy of my visa and proof of me being a student at EKU. I followed their

request and at the local Chase bank the employee said: 'I have opened over 100 international student accounts and you have exactly

the same info in your account! I don’t not understand what is the problem.' Still he scanned in and send my extra papers. One week ago I received an e-mail from Chase that my account balance was low read below:

This is an Alert to help manage your account ending in 1728.

The account available balance is -$9,996,479.19 which is less than the minimum balance of $50.00 in your alerts settings.

If you have any questions about this message, please log on to chase.com or call 1-877-CHASEPC(877-242-7372). I called the number and now they needed a copy of my lease, I responded that I had better things to do than clean up their mess,

because I was in my Midterm exams. They were very rude to me on the phone and treated me like I was some kind of criminal??!! I went to the local Chase bank a couple days later and they made a copy of my lease and said they would take care of it. They said it could take up to a day.. Now, One week later I still cannot take money out of my account on an ATM or pay for food in a store. Also they do this to me in

Springbreak when I am travelling and at the beginning of the month when I need to pay for rent?? Also nobody ever toled me my account was closed, I didn't receive any mail on that I just noticed at the store that I couldn't pay

for my purchases??!! I was so ashamed!!

I have never had debts with any bank and I refuse to be treated this way! This really is outrageous. At Chase bank they said that they probably made a mistake when I opened my account, is this my problem??

These people are definitely not capable of treating customers the way they should be treated! I gave all the info they have asked me and after stealing from me when I did an international transfer (I have asked so many times

for an explanation which nobody ever was able to give me??!!) they now cancel my account and hold my money?? For a mistake one of

their employees made?? Unbelievable!! Also when I called the number 877-242-7372 I got a women on the line who was very impolite,

responded in ways that were so stupid! I asked why do I have to give extra information and my roommate doesn't? She responded: ‘I

cannot answer that question because I am not talking to your roommate.' I got the 'I cannot answer that question' at least 5 times.

Just to hear a couple of days later that the mistake was made by a Chase employee!! Still this matter is not taken care of, I still cannot take money out of my account.. This is severely damaging my Springbreak holiday, I cannot travel, I cannot do anything I had planned for.

If this matter is not resolved quickly and I do not feel comfortable in the way Chase deals with this I will (of course change bank

and I) will put this experience on every forum about banking I can find.If I need to write papers or other media corporations I

will!

People have the right to know how Chase treats their customers! This a outrageous and it is unbelievable that people who obviously

do not know what they are doing are put in charge to handle my money or anybody elses. PEOPLE SHUT UP WE DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU'RE BAD EXPERIENCES WITH CHASE ON WIKIPEDIA DISCUSSION, USE ANOTHER WEBSITE. YOU PEOPLE ARE SO STUPID. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.10.133.57 (talk) 02:24, 30 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you understand the urgency and seriousness of my disappointment in your customer service and honesty towards your customers.

Chase organization date

[edit]

Please resolve the issue of how a bank organized in1799 could have been named after a man (Salmon Chase) who was born in 1806. This does not make sense on its face and some explanation is owed to the reader. Are you using the 1799 date provided by Chase bank without verification? The information you provide on this website should not support such conflicts.

Use whatever source you think is appropriate to verify the facts, but since Salmon Chase ran for president in1860 and was a Supreme court justice later than that, it is empirically obvious that Chase bank could not have been named after him in1799. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cynmichaud (talkcontribs) 19:50, 29 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Chase will begin refusing certain cash deposits

[edit]

Chase Bank has announced that starting on March 3, 2014, only customers with Chase checking and saving accounts will be able to put cash into other customers' accounts. All others will use check, money order, etc. Reasons given were "fear of money laundering" and "sometimes customers ask us who a deposit is from". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.176.108.8 (talk) 01:03, 7 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As of June 6, 2014, the latest Chase rule now says a person's name must be on the account if that person wants to deposit cash. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.176.108.8 (talk) 20:39, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Chase freezing accounts of porn actors ?

[edit]

"Layton Benton, the 22-year-old star of movies such as 'The Bomb Booty', said today that her account containing thousands of dollars was closed on April 11 and she only found out when her ATM card was declined. Chase reportedly told her she was a 'risk'"

Chase (bank)Chase Bank – Per WP:NATURAL, which states Natural disambiguation: Using an alternative name that the subject is also commonly called in English reliable sources, albeit not as commonly as the preferred-but-ambiguous title. Do not, however, use obscure or made-up names — the official website of Chase uses "Chase Bank" as well. CookieMonster755 📞 00:12, 7 June 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. Yes, but the name of the bank is JP Morgan Chase Bank, not Chase Bank or JPMorgan Chase. I'm fine with Chase Bank, per WP:NATURAL, but AjaxSmack has a point. RGloucester 21:19, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, really Coolcaesar? I guess I am very ignorant today. The official Chase website uses Chase Bank. ;) ✉cookiemonster✉ 𝚨755𝛀 14:48, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I said "in prose." Read their Web site carefully. They only use "Chase Bank" in Web page titles, in metasearch tags in headers, in a navigation link in a footer ("See More Chase Bank Solutions"), and as part of the full legal name of their two operating national bank entities ("JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A." and "Chase Bank USA, N.A."). If you examine their Web page design carefully, they consistently avoid using "Chase Bank" in the body of Web pages themselves.
The most likely reason for this inconsistency with the page navigation is that whomever writes copy for their Web pages is working from some kind of internal style guide or is subject to review by an internal editor who is ensuring that the Chase brand is always referred to in copy as just Chase, while the page navigation is probably coming from a separate Web design department or outside consultant and there may not be enough marketing people in the right places to enforce consistent name usage. This is a major problem in most organizations which drives marketing people crazy. Very few marketing people actually reach C-level positions, and most people who come up to that level through operations or finance don't have sufficient marketing training, so marketing people are always having problems persuading other departments not under their direct control to follow brand usage guidelines. Only a few large corporations with really powerful brands like Disney have been successful with enforcing strict brand management. --Coolcaesar (talk) 06:11, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
