I've been intrigued by this article since noticing it on the GAN page and have read and enjoyed it several times. I'll write the review and I can assure you the article will pass. Lead: Excellent as is.

Early life and emigration: Excellent. Do we know his mother's name?

Rise to wealth in Maryland: Excellent as is. I've made some few changes: I changed the title to Career and rise to wealth in Maryland (which I think more accurately describes the section), I made a grammar correction in the penultimate paragraph in the section, and I relocated the image of Carroll's wife to the place in the text where she is actually discussed.

Political power: Excellent as is.

References and Categories: References have several templates available for use. I've reformatted the references accordingly. Categories (as far as I know) are listed in alphabetical order with any "numeric" categories listed first. I've sorted these accordingly.

Comments:

  • Please consider a "Legacy" sort of section. Did Carroll accomplish anything that has had significant influence on modern Maryland or modern Americans? Are his town house and plantation still in existence?
  • I deleted the genealogical chart. It is OR (self made by uploader) and therefore unreliable. I relocated the Douai image and the wife image. Images should not be forced. Simply use "thumb" rather than 150px.


What is a good article? 

  1. Well-written:

         (a) the prose is clear and the spelling and grammar are correct; and 
         (b) it complies with the manual of style guidelines for lead sections, layout, jargon, words to avoid, fiction, and list incorporation.

  2. Factually accurate and verifiable:

         (a) it provides references to all sources of information in the section(s) dedicated to the attribution of these sources according to the guide to layout;
         (b) it provides in-line citations from reliable sources for direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons; and
         (c) it contains no original research.
  • PASS.
  3. Broad in its coverage:

         (a) it addresses the main aspects of the topic; and
         (b) it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).

  4. Neutral: it represents viewpoints fairly and without bias.
  • PASS.
  5. Stable: it does not change significantly from day-to-day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute.
  • PASS.
  6. Illustrated, if possible, by images:

         (a) images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content; and
         (b) images are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions.
