Merge
[edit]Aren't all (most?) of these banks direct banks? It sounds like a new buzzword for the same thing an older buzzword refers to. —ajf (talk) 17:40, 8 April 2019 (UTC)
- All these challenger banks may be direct banks but not all direct banks are challenger banks. This is a UK-specific topic, the articles should not be merged. I'm removing your merge tag on that basis. — Scott • talk 10:46, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- I'm replacing with Template:Globalize/UK then. I'm unconvinced challenger banks are a UK-specific phenomenon. —ajf (talk) 11:02, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- That's a fair point. I understand the current article title to be UK-derived but there may be other international names, and certainly "upstart" banks must be appearing in other places. — Scott • talk 12:18, 9 April 2019 (UTC)

This should be merged with Neobanks - the page as it is currently written is purely from a UK perspective and Challenger Banks/Neo Banks is quite clearly a global phenomenon - and many markets have a far higher impact of such "banks" e.g. China, Brazil, Germany etc. than the UK. Only Monzo in the UK has made even a half hearted attempt at international expansion whereas Revolut/N26 have shown remarkably internationalisation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bankaza (talk • contribs) 22:21, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose to merge Challenger Banks into Neobanks. I think that the content in the Challenger Bank article can easily be explained in the context of Neobanks, and the Neobank article is of a reasonable size that the merging of Challenger Bank will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. - You'd need to start with providing a reliable source that clearly states that they are the same thing. - MrOllie (talk) 01:52, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
