Proposed cloud computing merge

[edit]

User:72.39.35.178 really wants to merge cloud computing into this article, but doesn't bother to give reasons. I guess we should try to get consensus.

  • Strongly Disagree for reasons that should be obvious, not the least of which is 15,600,000 hits for 'cloud computing', 62,000 for 'centralized computing'. samj (talk) 18:16, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Sam, Cloud Computing and Centralized Computing are two different concepts —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.207.79.77 (talk) 19:02, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They are entirely different things and should not be merged together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.16.64.192 (talk) 01:45, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously? Software as a Service as well? You're kidding, right? samj (talk) 14:22, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly disagree. Centralized computing implies a single-server design, and as the article implies, that server is a [Single Point of Failure]. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SteveLoughran (talkcontribs) 21:13, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

there should also be difference between centralized and decetraliaed system on one page other wise its good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.0.30 (talk) 18:50, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Strongly agree with merge. Cloud computing is simply a sub-genre of Centralized computing. VernonF (talk) 21:00, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Csr technology group content

[edit]

I rolled back your rollback on the changes to Centralized Computing for the same reason I deleted it

  • Marketing spam from a single vendor
  • Poster's talk page shows their attempt to create a page for that vendor; implies CoI
  • Search for the text added shows it is replicated on that vendors page
  • the reference structure is a mess anyway
  • Examples should be inline not URLs to other pages. Wikipedia is not a directory.

Either the author is working on behalf of the vendor and inserting sales/marketing content -WP:COI, or they not working on behalf of the vendor and are copying and pasting in the content, which is WP:COPYVIO. Either way it can't go in. Sorry.

If you feel different, please defend the content here, rather than get into a revert war
