Listing as disputed

[edit]

Someone just added this page to Category:Lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender people. I have heard this before, but I have also heard that it is just a rumor. A little while back, this was a debated issue. Can someone find a source for this and add it to the page? -- Chris 03:13, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I figured someone would catch it. I read an article in a magazine late last year that discussed Cora's partner. I will try to find the cite and add it. Ckessler 04:01, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check out these [1], from SFGate, and [2], from Clarion Ledger. The second one is reprinted in a number of sources. Daxite 03:54, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, well it looks good then. I removed the {{Disputed}} template. I also took out the <ref> tags... I'm embarassed to say I'm not quite sure how they work, and they seemed to be making the categories disappear. Anyone is welcome to put them back in if you know how. Thanks all! -- Chris 09:35, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In an article in the magazine INDEPENDENT (Santa Barbara October 25th 2007 page 55 by George Yatchisin) it is quoted "Cora is now doing her home cooking in Santa Barbarba, as she just moved here recently with her partner Jennifer and her young son Zoran." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.234.184.162 (talk) 12:39, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article lists her as being married to Jennifer. I know that California has legal same-sex marriages, but the links are for articles about her partner, not her wife. 208.73.225.34 (talk) 04:50, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FHM pictorial

[edit]

Since one man's pr0n is another man's art, if anyone wishes to dispute my characterization of the FHM pictorial as "cheesecake", they can put it on record here. Ribonucleic 18:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm reverting the deletion of the pictorial shoot from the Trivia section - as I disagree with Mr.magic chef's stated rationale that it "makes no sense". If he means that the wording is unclear, it would be more appropriate to revise the paragraph than to delete it. If he means that it is irrelevant, well, that's why they call it Trivia. If he means that it's inappropriate, I both respectfully disagree and invite him to explain his thinking here. Ribonucleic 21:40, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Iron Chef Hottie"

[edit]

Hottie though she undeniably is, I have never heard her referred to by that phrase in any of the Iron Chef America episodes I've watched. And googling it finds zero matches other than this article. So I am deleting this until someone can cite a specific episode. Ribonucleic 16:31, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some scruffy dude who was partnered with some other guy called her that. It was.... Iron Chef Cora vs Jon Shook & Vinny Dotolo air date 3/12/2006Happy cricket 01:47, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yeah, I've since caught that episode. Bill & Ted's Excellent Cuisine, sheesh. I suppose if someone wants to put that one mention in the Trivia section... But it's not like it's her official nickname, which is the way the deleted sentence made it sound.

I say leave it out. It was a throwaway comment the guy made trying to look cool. Happy cricket 02:54, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was during ICA "Battle Eggplant", Cat Cora vs. Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo. One of them stated ,when choosing which Iron Chef to battle, "I'll take on the hottie". I don't think it was as much a comment on her appearance (attractive though she is) as it was the competitor's intention to describe the only female in a "young, hip" way.

First name

[edit]

This isn't the most rock-solid citation. And it only directly supports "Cathy", not "Catherine". But I'm putting it in anyway. If anyone wants to dig deeper, be my guest. Ribonucleic 22:13, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. Found a better one. Ribonucleic 22:54, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

De-linking "Iron Chef"

[edit]

The link went to the article on the Japanese TV show. Since Cora is not affiliated with that show, the link seemed inappropriate. Since Iron Chef America is linked later in the sentence, I put just put "Iron Chef" in quotes to suggest an honorary title. Ribonucleic 22:19, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tried to fix broken ref in first sentence

[edit]

This is annoying me, but I am not sure how to edit the meta-code so that the ref works properly. The nonsensical first sentence makes it a dead give away though - please fix if you can! I tried but failed and reverted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.170.75.26 (talk) 06:20, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Picture

[edit]

The main picture looks like its been photo-shopped considerably. Is that not against "the rules"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.191.116 (talk) 04:34, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Date of marriage

[edit]

The sidebar says 2001. The body fo the article says 2001. I can't find either date in the citations used in the section about her personal life. matt kane's brain (talk) 14:33, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to the reference given at http://lesbianlife.about.com//od/famouslesbians/ig/Famous-Lesbian-Couples/Cat-and-Jennifer-Cora.htmm she specifically states that they are not married, as it destroys the domestic partnership. Fixing the article to reflect what in in the source. SeanNovack (talk) 00:46, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2012 DUI plea deal

[edit]

http://www.tmz.com/2012/08/17/iron-chef-cat-cora-plea-deal-dui/

 * Three years probation, 120-day suspended jail sentence
 * 9 months of DUI school
 * Paid $2386 in fines
 * Paid restitution to the other driver in the accident

Since TMZ is not appropriate for citation on Wikipedia, a more verifiable source should be sought. 71.92.208.8 (talk) 21:14, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removing per WP:BLP. Whether or not it's sourced, reporting DUIs that are not part of someone's notability is inappropriate. - Wikidemon (talk) 11:47, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I could not find anything on WP:BLP that says that. Could you point out the specific policy you are referring to? The most relevant information I gathered from that page was that information must be reliably sourced and must not add undue weight to matters, but nothing that disallows content not primarily related to their notability.Transcendence (talk) 19:15, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I read WP:BLP again. Are you referring to WP:HARM and WP:WELLKNOWN? Those two still allow for such incidents so long as there are enough reliable sources and undue weight is not given. Transcendence (talk) 19:31, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
HARM and WEIGHT pretty much. Every famous (and not-so-famous) person's arrest record is going to have reliable sources but Wikipedia doesn't recite every person's rap sheet. There's probably something specific on this, but unless it's something like the Mel Gibson DUI incident, it's not biographically significant. I couldn't find anything conclusive by searching DUI over at WP:BLP/N, but there are a bunch of other variants to search like DWI, "drunk driving", etc. Also significant, per this article[3] she was arrested but not charged. That contradicts some other sources, perhaps it was a different incident or else it was one of those diversion in lieu of conviction things. AFAIK Wikipedia is a lot more cautious about unproven / uncharged crimes than guilty pleas or convictions. - Wikidemon (talk) 03:09, 22 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image

[edit]

Not sure if anyone has noticed, but her head in the picture seems to be quite fake. Not sure if its been edited in some way, but her head is larger than her body--Mjs1991 (talk) 13:52, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Addition to career acheivements

[edit]

I've inserted and cited some more career achievements under CAREER, and I'd like to know for sure if my use of colons, semi-colons and punctuation is correct or not. Wikimikey423 17:27, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
