Promotion of tolerance

[edit]

Promote tolerance my ass! This group trumps easy targets like Zundel as their successes while abandoning democratic principles. Any individual who is even slightly critical of Israel, whose human right's record is comparable to China's, is lambasted by this group. I am no anti-Zionist, but this article is way over the top pro-Israel. It is also important to note that when CJC collects info their research methods are deplorable, laughable even. Go take a peak at the UN's website and look at the Human Rights Commission reports from CJC: they use Wikipedia as a source to document what they claim are human rights abuses.

If you have a problem with the article, suggest ways to improve it, if you just want to complain, please find somewhere else to do it. -- Chabuk T • C ] 01:00, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Translation: "F*** off". How charming. But the complaint is valid. And nowhere in the article is the campaign by Farber against laywer Ezra Levant -- which backfired so spectacularly -- or other attacks on free speech even mentioned. Yet the CJC is probably closing down precisely because it has become so discredited as a result of that very public fight, and seen as useless and counterproductive by many Jews. The article needs a complete rewrite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.147.141.0 (talk) 21:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pro-Israel

[edit]

This article is way too pro-Israal - there is no criticism section - it is against NPOV. Most of the sources cited are pro-Israel and Semitic in point of view. No world view is seen throughout this article. Sounds like a commerical for it and promoted the organization. Someone please add it. --99.230.153.253 (talk) 01:00, 26 May 2008 (UTC)User:Xinyu[reply]

Um. But a Jewish body is going to be pro-Israel (unless it is suicidal). The CJC was a horrible organisation, that operated as an inquisition and sought to stifle free speech. But ... a pro-Israel agenda was probably what it existed for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.147.141.0 (talk) 21:29, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Interfaith

[edit]

The article should maybe explain the CJC's interfaith activities, if they are notable enough, especially its relations with the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. (cf [1]) ADM (talk) 01:13, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

It would be interesting if we could find out whether the Canadian Jewish Congress has any political links to the Asper family, a prominent Jewish family in Canada that notably controls Canwest Corporation, Canada's largest media corporation. It seems that whenever the Canadian Jewish Congress has some kind of basic political issue it wants to raise, it forwards its consequent media requests to the Asper corporation, which highlights them through major newspapers like the National Post, the Ottawa Citizen or the Montreal Gazette.
