What does CLISPAS do?
[edit]At the moment, the article does not tell a reader much about CLIPSAS... The article simply tells us that CLIPSAS exists, and who its members are. All well and good, but it does not tell us what CLIPSAS actually does. The article would be significantly better if it discussed what CLIPSAS's purpose is and how it opperates, things like that. I note from the CLIPSAS webpage that it holds an annual symposium to discuss issues of mutual interest to its members... does it do anything else? Blueboar (talk) 14:17, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
UNESCO
[edit]This indicates that CLIPSAS has not participated in a single meeting since obtaining "Special Consultative Status" with UNESCO (along with thousands of other NGOs - special consultative is 71 pages long in this official PDF). It's not exactly a selective process, either, from what the UN indicates. So is it really worth mentioning, especially in the lede? MSJapan (talk) 21:36, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- As it's a stub and the mention is currently in the last line of the main body of the text, I'd not worry about this. As (if) the article grows then this will naturally devolve into the text. CLIPSAS seems to think that this is quite important to them (they seem to mention it a lot in their blogs, etc) so I'd say it's likely to be important to them. - Not saying yeah or nay here... just raising a question.
- As editors, we often have to make judgement calls on which facts related to our topics are important enough to mention, and which are essentially trivia. An article's subject may be very proud of some accomplishment (and go on and on about it in their Self-publications), but we are free to decide that it is too trivial to mention... if we wish to do so.
- So, the UNESCO status may be something CLIPSAS thinks is important... but we are free to disagree and call it unimportant if we wish to. That means the real question is whether we think it is important information for our readers to know? (if so, why?... if not, why not?). Blueboar (talk) 21:52, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
- Addendum... to help us decide whether this is important or not... what does "Special Consultative Status" actually mean? Blueboar (talk) 21:58, 22 December 2012 (UTC)
Article's Title
[edit]Should the title be Centre de Liaison et d'Information des Puissances maçonniques Signataires de l'Appel de Strasbourg or CENTRE OF LIAISON AND INFORMATION OF MASONIC POWERS SIGNATORIES OF STRASBOURG APPEAL. I mean, this is the English Wikipedia and CLIPSAS does use English name as well. --Truther2012 (talk) 12:20, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Most English speakers will have searched for this as CLIPSAS. As the rules (God help us) don't allow an article on an acronym, it seems like an act of courtesy to at least use a title that matches. As this is an important structure in liberal freemasonry, perhaps we would be better employed turning this into an article than quibbling about what to call it. "the Strasbourg Appeal"
[edit]What is it?? --BjKa (talk) 19:16, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, broken link. This is the Strasbourg appeal. They think Freemasonry should be above factionalism and grumpy old men moaning about "regularity". Fiddlersmouth (talk) 19:40, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
In-complete article
