Awards section

[edit]

In the awards section some one had written "**************" which is an abuse in Telugu language aimed at Mr. Ramalinga Raju. So, I deleted that phrase from the awards section. This kind of stupid behavior is typical of some people. Whoever has written that abuse seems to be very naive, hypocritic and stupid. I dont understand what is the point in doing such a stupid act. Jealous of Mr. Raju? Or just trying to play some stupid prank like you used to do in your school, on your teachers? Please grow up and do something meaningful and useful in your life. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.134.7.78 (talk) 08:49, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This E-mail sounds like a hoax, but has anybody inside information? Are there others getting this E-mail? www.Wolfhart.us --173.170.92.3 (talk) 21:48, 11 January 2010 (UTC)--Inventor 21:53, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not a company history

[edit]

This is a biography, not a company's history [1]. The revoked registration happened under a new owner. --NeilN talk to me 19:37, 22 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ramalinga Raju is known mostly for Satyam computers. Reference to the company, its conception and final sale is part of his biography Neil2000 (talk) 03:16, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
By way of example, American restaurateur Colonel Harlan Sanders was known for fried chicken. However neither fried chicken recipes nor transactions of Kentucky Fried Chicken after the end of Col. Sanders' association with it belong in Colonel Sanders' biographical article (and they are not found there). Dwpaul (talk) 03:55, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But KFC was not sold off to another owner during Col.Sander's time due to his fraudulent accounting practices at KFC. Neil2000 (talk) 04:04, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Matters not at all. Dwpaul (talk) 04:06, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Let me get this straight for the record, your saying that The company Mr. Raju started, operated, swindled investors and cheated shareholders and left the company in disarray does not deserve mention as to the fate of the company he left behind in his biographical page Neil2000 (talk) 04:14, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly correct. The subject of that information is the company, not Mr. Raju. Mention it on the page concerning the company if not already there. Dwpaul (talk) 04:20, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Here is what I perceive as a fundamental problem here: you seem to think Wikipedia readers are idiots. They are not, and they don't need to be led by the nose. They do not need to be told that someone has behaved shamefully; if you report the facts, they are capable of coming to that conclusion independently. And if they care to know what happened to Mr. Raju's company after his control of it came to an end, they will click on the (convenient) link to the company's article right inside this article and read it there. Give them a little credit. Dwpaul (talk) 04:25, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The funny thing is that most of the section you are objecting to now already existed before I started editing it. You both didn't seems to have an issue until I edited it. Neil2000 (talk) 04:33, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Please point out where the "revoked registration" info is. [2] --NeilN talk to me 04:41, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just referred this to the WP:AC, let's wait for their decision. Neil2000 (talk) 04:25, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Arbitration Committee is the last step in dispute resolution and takes on issues of editor behavior, not article content. --NeilN talk to me 04:37, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please look at John Rigas page where it clearly mentioned about the company's state " Adelphia Corporation was forced to file for bankruptcy after it acknowledged that the three Rigases had taken $3.1 billion in loans that were not recorded on the books." Neil2000 (talk) 14:46, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And Adelphia was not operating under new ownership at that time. Have a look at Steve Wozniak. See any Apple history in there after he left? --NeilN talk to me 14:55, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! what a comparison, Apple to Satyam? Stay with corrupt founders and companies. Adelphia did not have future, no body wanted to touch with a 10foot pole. While Satyam would have been in a similar situation but for the lobbying of NASSCOM/Indian government, it didn't go to bankrupcy but rather sold off as a single entity. Neil2000 (talk) 15:02, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Whether a founder is corrupt matters not at all to how a biography is structured. Again, this is not a company history. How the company fares under new owners does not belong in a biography. --NeilN talk to me 15:12, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See also WP:OTHERCRAP. Even if the Rigas article erroneously mixed the founder's biography with the state of the company after his departure, it would not justify doing so here. Dwpaul (talk) 15:23, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Satyam/Mahindra is still liable for all lawsuits against the company for accounting irregularities. They are being worked on and settled. The most recent being the $125 million in Feb. I do not want to discuss this point anymore Neil2000 (talk) 15:48, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:LISTEN. If you simply continue to revert the changes being proposed by other editors (especially if you do so against consensus), and also refuse to discuss the edits/reversions, you run the risk of being blocked from editing on this topic. Since you clearly know quite a lot about this topic, and feel strongly about it, that would be a shame. Dwpaul (talk) 16:03, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and block me. Abuse whatever leverage you got. Make a valid point before removing content. I don't see how those three sentences make the article any less or more appealing. Nothing but egotistical behavior on NeilN and Dwpaul part.. Don't have time for such mickey mousing. Neil2000 (talk) 20:01, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't have time to learn and abide by the documented policies and guidelines of Wikipedia (to which both NeilN and I have directed you, thus disproving your assertion concerning our egos), and to do so collaboratively with other editors, you should not be editing Wikipedia articles. I strongly recommend you invest your energies elsewhere, perhaps in writing a book about Mr. Raju, where you would not find yourself subject to these policies. Dwpaul (talk) 20:14, 28 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Response to third opinion request (Disagreement on inclusion of company information in biography):
I am responding to a third opinion request for this page. I have made no previous edits on Byrraju Ramalinga Raju and have no known association with the editors involved in this discussion. The third opinion process is informal and I have no special powers or authority apart from being a fresh pair of eyes.

I think it is important to not add WP:UNDUE weight to the article, but I think a brief mention of the eventual status of the company is appropriate. I would not add this information as a separate section header, as User:Neil2000 did, but as a sentence or two in the article. I agree, this article is about the person, and the person's involvement in the company is relevant, but that events after the person stopped being involved in the company should receive only brief (if any) mention. The current inclusion of "Satyam was purchased by Tech Mahindra in April 2009 and renamed Mahindra Satyam." in the "Accounting Scandal" section seems to be exactly the right balance. It gives closure without undue weight, and includes a Wikilink to where someone can get more information if they need it. I hope this helps. LivitEh?/What? 14:08, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your thoughts Livit. --NeilN talk to me 14:11, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Politics

[edit]

Recent events of Mr. Raju since his release thats been reported is definitely worth mentioning in his biographical page.Neil2000 (talk) 03:35, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not the news. We do not add every sighting of a person to his biography. Seriously, do you have any idea what a biography is? --NeilN talk to me 03:45, 23 October 2013 (UTC)--NeilN talk to me 03:45, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You have been great at educating Neil2000 (talk) 03:54, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, only one sentence of the information you introduced concerning the inauguration had anything to do with the subject of this article (and the relevancy of the information to the subject being minimal -- he attended, so what? -- has been reverted). The rest of it described other people who were present at the event, facts which had nothing at all to do with the subject. Dwpaul (talk) 03:50, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
OK. removed the section - happy? Neil2000 (talk) 03:52, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
