Picture of 'butter burger' is some sort of nouveau food porn 'butter burger' specific to one restaurant.

[edit]

For the reason above, the picture is a misleading depiction of a 'butter burger.' A butter burger (to the extent that it's a traditional food and not largely the Culver's restaurant chain's most famous item) is a burger on a *toasted bun* with butter spread on the toasted bun, the way you'd spread it on toast (toasted sliced bread). A burger with a toasted bun was, in fact, a relatively commonplace version of the hamburger throughout the United States much earlier in the 20th century, though I doubt most of the people selling or eating those were calling them anything other than 'hamburgers' or 'cheeseburgers' (until Culver's and possibly other similar restaurants came along). 2600:4040:452B:5200:25CD:8B7C:CF45:511C (talk) 17:29, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
