Move discussion in progress

Abdul Rahman Shalabi
[edit]A person such as yourself should not be accusing other editors of wikihounding, least of all me. In fact, you shouldn't be accusing anybody of anything. I've had this page on my watchlist for years. Anyone's heavy slashing of this article was bound to attract notice.
Perhaps you didn't notice the edit that you deleted also included a tag on your reference. At first glance, StarCityNews appears to have been designed with Wordpress blog software. There's no byline to check against the author's other writings. Those aren't disqualifying items on their own, of course, but it goes downhill from there. The item itself reeks of bias. The entire site smells like it's designed to attract attention so that they might sell BB-traded shares of itself to unwary investors.
This isn't to say that the text you added was wrong. It begins with "Shalabi said" -- which I know to be true. But we should be able to find other sources that quote him making up that claim.
As for why I broke it into a separate line, I did that because the first line is fact. The second line is for Shalabi's claims.

- Well your edit history of the past 48 hours e.g. Naser Jason Abdo where you jumped in on behalf of another editor indicates in my view that you are wikihounding me. This does not only concern this article here.
- That Shalabi said that the procedure causes him extremely pains and he said that he feels like beeing treated like an animal is a fact and it does not make any sense to break up things that belong together.
- I have removed StarCityNews and added more references. Why did you delete some of the new references and re-added StarCityNews? That does not really make sense. Could you please explain that. IQinn (talk) 23:30, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- I didn't realize you had fixed the reference. Your comment didn't mention it. I should have looked closer at those changes. I just moved it from the previous one (because I wanted to keep the exact tag you'd removed) without noticing that you actually fixed the source. I'm sorry for the error, but when you choose to make an obstinate nuisance of yourself, you need to learn to expect some degree of fluster in the reactions.
- Again, I'm not wikihounding you. We've all been gravitating around the same general subject for a long time. If you looked closely at my edit history you might have noticed that I had worked on the Naser Jason Abdo incident within the Terrorism in the United States article. That was before the Naser Jason Abdo article was created.
- As for this article, it says Shalabi said these things, but not that his claims are true. The first part is factual, and that's why I separated the two lines.
- -- Randy2063 (talk) 04:31, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
- Again, there is no confusion about that in the text in it's current form. It clearly belongs together. IQinn (talk) 06:29, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
US Citizen needs to be highlighted
[edit]| 2002-04-05 || 9 || Yaser Esam Hamdi ||
- US citizen. He was stripped of his US citizenship and deported to Saudi Arabia, where he spent his childhood, prior to the institution of the Combatant Status Review Tribunals in July 2004.[citation needed] This man was a US citizen, as is documented in his article. I think his case needs to be highlighted, rather than included in a list of Saudi citizens. Yes, he had lived in Saudi Arabia and grown up there as a child, but his status was important, leading to a US Supreme Court decision.Parkwells (talk) 18:59, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Reverting linkectomy
[edit]Originally the table contained wikilinks to the individual captives, and wikilinks to their ID numbers. These ID numbers are essential to distinguish between these individuals, as most of them were identified by multiple names, and a large fraction of them shared a name with another captive.
Someone unlinked the numbers. That was a mistake. Even if the ID number is a redlink, one can still use the "what links here" feature to distinguish between captives with the same name.
So, please don't unlink those number. Geo Swan (talk) 03:35, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
