To do list
[edit]I'm starting a to-do list to bring this page up to scratch. Please add as you think of things Lkchild (talk) 07:42, 10 June 2016 (UTC)
- Responsibilities
- should cover the directorate of tank design, tank board, etc. Also Ministry of Supply
- done, but could do with adding a bit on The Old Gang and which tanks were desighed by which teams. Also only used one source - I'd like to work in details from "The Business of Tanks" for a different viewpoint. Lkchild (talk) 00:11, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
- The tank Factory had lots more good info - needs more of a read Lkchild (talk) 23:39, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
- British Tank Production and the War Economy, 1934-1945 By Benjamin Coombs mentions George Usher, director General of Tank Supply in connection with the Tank Board in July 1942, but not sure how he fits in. Lkchild (talk) 13:13, 2 July 2016 (UTC)

- design
- a brief overview of cruiser, infantry, assault, universal, etc.
- added to cruiser and started infantry tanks sections Lkchild (talk) 23:39, 20 June 2016 (UTC)
- Tanks
- needs to link to the tank articles, probably slim this section down.
- Companies
- should describe the distributed nature of British/commonwealth manufacturing, and explain key players like Nuffield and Leyland
- Overseas supply
- needs coverage of production in Canada, and requests to the US leading to design input on M3 lee and M4 sherman, T14 whatchamacallit (the one thats the joint US version of Excelsior), I cant remember the name
- added some coverage to Cruiser tanks section, as its a key part if the story. Lkchild (talk) 09:44, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
Note:we need more coverage of armoured cars and SPGs but they're not really my field of interest.
Chief Engineer /Director of Tank Design
[edit]I'm not sure of the relationship between the DIrector and Chief Engineer in roles and responsibilities. Several sources quote the Director as still being the same man, but he's not on the tank board any more, once Robotham is brought in. There doesn't seem to be any definition of responsibilities that I can find. Lkchild (talk) 06:54, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
- Found it and updated article - he was outside of the hierarchy, but coordinated between DTD and industry [[[User:Lkchild|Lkchild]] (talk) 23:49, 27 August 2016 (UTC)]
Carriers
[edit]I've added some detail, but I'm really not sure on the production numbers - there are some wildly different numbers in different articles. Lkchild (talk) 09:47, 3 July 2016 (UTC)
