Achievements column
[edit]@Jackedano1996: Thanks for your work on this list. I am curious, are the achievements mentioned specific reasons for the award, or are you adding these based on your own findings? Just curious if these are the official reasons the artists have been recognized. I see this is still a work in progress. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:24, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
@Another Believer: Since there are no official criteria or reasons listed by the BPI (the body that runs the BRIT Awards) as to why certain artist are chosen for these awards, I have been trying to compile a list of achievements for each recipient myself that could suggest why a certain artist was chosen to receive the Outstanding Contribution award. I have tried to keep these achievements music-specific as it is a Contribution to Music Award rather than a general Lifetime Achievement honour (that's why, for example, Paul McCartney, Bob Geldof, Tom Jones and Elton John's knighthoods are not listed among their achievements). I just thought the article would make a more interesting read as opposed to simply a list of names. Thanks for your feedback. --Jackedano1996 (talk) 18:33, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
- Jackedano1996, Then I would just remove the Achievements column altogether. The reasons for their recognition should only be included if they are provided by the presenting organization. ---Another Believer (Talk) 18:35, 30 April 2019 (UTC)
LG Wood
[edit]The first winner LG Wood links to an article which doesn't mention who/what LG Wood is? What is it? Cls14 (talk) 15:21, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Outstanding Contribution to Music vs Icon Award
[edit]The article currently states that the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award and the Icon Award are the same award, just renamed. The list of winners also combines both, with Icon Award winners counted as Outstanding Contribution to Music Award winners. However, the Brit Awards themselves consider these separate awards, with the Icon Award only being introduced in 2014.
- Brits.co.uk on Pink's 2019 Outstanding Contribution to Music win: "The award was rested in 2013 to make way for a Special Recognition for War Child to mark the charity's 20th anniversary."
- Brits.co.uk on Elton John's 2014 Icon Award win: "Sir Elton John CBE was honoured tonight at the first ever BRITs Icon event..."
- Similarly, Brits.co.uk on Robbie Williams' 2017 Icon Award win: "The previous winners are Sir Elton John and David Bowie."
- This Billboard press release on Taylor Swift 2021 Global Icon Award win: "The only previous recipients are Elton John (2014), David Bowie (2016) and Robbie Williams (2017)."
It seems to me that these two awards should be separated. Bennv123 (talk) 08:07, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
