Requested move (2010)

[edit]

Brisbane StrikersBrisbane Strikers F.C. — The latter wording is fast becoming, if it isn't already, the Wiki standard. Brisbane Strikers could then act merely as a redirect. Half Price (talk) 18:26, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion Closed. Result was to go ahead with move. Half Price (talk) 09:23, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
While the holding company behind the club is known as Strikers Football Club Pty Ltd, the footballing operation (which is effectively a joint venture with North Star Football Association Inc, AKA North Star Soccer Club) works under the trading name Brisbane Strikers without any suffixes. Hack (talk) 09:51, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox states that the club's full name is Brisbane Strikers Football Club. Is this incorrect? Half Price (talk) 10:02, 28 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Brisbane Strikers F.C.Brisbane Strikers – The club's official website appears to lack any mention of 'Brisbane Strikers F.C.' and, instead, consistently uses 'Brisbane Strikers'. Most news articles – e.g., here, here, here, here, here and here – use 'Brisbane Strikers'. The proposed title meets all three criteria listed at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sports): it is the name used on the club's official website and by the majority of English-language media, and it is not likely to be confused with any other club's name. -- Black Falcon (talk) 05:43, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
