out of date

[edit]

the building iscomplete now other than a strange lift hanging down from above and i see many people go in and out every day so this article is out of date — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sir Simon Tolhurst (talkcontribs) 00:21, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Commemorate?"

"The completion of the entire building was commemorated on Thursday 26 April 2007." – can you commemorate something which has only just happened? I would prefer the word "celebrate". Maproom (talk) 16:49, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname

[edit]

It's nicknamed "The Dalek", but the article doesn't mention why. Sure, I could add a tiny blip about Dr. Who, but I've never been to Leeds. Maybe someone could add a bit more about the nickname (ie. do the building owners/operators itself acknowledge the name, is it used in the media, can anyone claim they came up with the name first, etc.)? Who were the archiects?

[edit]

A series of recent edits have changed the architect given for this building from Aedas to AHR. This is particularly important in view of the problems with this building. It appears that these are not different names for the same architectural practice: the two firms have different websites: [1] [2]. None of the cited references appear to mention AHR, while two of them, including the usually-reliable Guardian, give Aedas as the architects.[3] [4] I will revert these changes. Doing my best to source the existing text, but much of it does not seem very sourceable

[edit]

I came upon this page randomly and am doing my best to source it. The wind hazard stuff seems to have been well-covered by journalists, but I'm having a hard time finding anything to use for most of the rest of the text. There's a bit of stuff on the building itself and the IPSX listing, mostly a few news stories and some passing mentions in architecture and urban design books, but not nearly enough to cover the existing material, at least not among what I've found. I guess what I'm getting around to is that I may end up removing a lot of it for lack of sources, so if I end up taking stuff out and you object, just have reliable sources at the ready and I'll happily agree to its return. Mesocarp (talk) 23:18, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In the end, I'm removing the IPSX section per WP:NOTPRICE. It's not that well attested to in outside reliable sources—just a few articles in the YEP—and I'm finding it very difficult to track down enough encyclopedia-worthy details to make up a section or even a paragraph with. There seems to be almost no citeable information on the owner at the time of the sale, just "an investment vehicle managed by Marick Capital", and the IPSX exchange itself isn't notable enough to have an article here. So, I'm not sure how to make much of it that isn't purely of interest to investors. If another editor feels like they can make something worthy of it, though, be my guest! 🍉◜◞🄜e𝚜𝚘𝚌𝚊r🅟🜜🥑《 𔑪‎talk〗⇤ 10:51, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
