Bend Or spots
[edit]A photo of Bend Or, showing his Bend-Or spots, would be most helpful. --Una Smith (talk) 14:36, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Maternity issues
[edit]There were well-publicised rumours that "Bend Or" had been mixed up with another colt called "Tadcaster" (out of Clemence) and that the colt who won the Derby was actually the latter. See [1] Tigerboy1966 (talk) 17:23, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- There is also a new report [2] that found that mitochondrial DNA from Bend Or's skeleton is compatible with DNA of Family 2 (Tadcaster's dam). So Bend Or in all likely hood was Tadcaster. Don't know if we can re-write history here. Froggerlaura ribbit 00:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
A very important correction need to be made - FAR more important than who Bend Or was - His offspring are in the pedigree of Man 'o War and Seabiscuit through Fair Play but far more in important is his great-grandson in the tail male line - Phalaris, who is in turn tail male ancestor of over 95% of all thoroughbreds alive worldwide today! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.144.139.75 (talk) 16:14, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, both of the colts were by Doncaster don't forget, so the sire-line remains unaltered. The immediate pedigree of Tadcaster's dam is noted in the article. By the time we get to Phalaris the pedigree would only be different by 1/32 and at the 5th generation. Edwarddutton (talk) 21:59, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
