Countries ranked by total medals won (men's, and women's)
[edit]Reverted edits that had Brazil first, and USA second. Now I see that the title of the section says "ranked by total medals won". That would mean that Brazil is first. Suggestion: Change the title, and rank the country with the most gold on top, then the most silver etc. Bib (talk) 08:29, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
- Checked Basketball at the Summer Olympics, where it says Medal Table. Changed the section title to Medal Table. Bib (talk) 08:33, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
An omitted word
[edit]Beach volleyball was introduced at the Summer Olympic Games in the 1992 Olympics, and has been an official Olympic sport since 1996, after being a demonstration event in 1992.
The word "being" is an important one here. Many people need to pay attention to English grammar.

Bad tenses
[edit]Corrected:
A double-elimination tournament was played for both men and women until a total of four teams qualified for the semifinals: the two finalist teams of the winners' bracket and the two finalist teams of the losers' bracket.
In general, it is shocking how often writers in general cannot get the tenses of verbs correct. When writing about past events, the past tense or the past perfect tense is needed. Nowadays, even supposedly professional writers seem to choose their tenses at random. The use of the present tense is a cancer on the English language. For example, many writers and speakers do not know the difference between "was", "is", and "will be", and they want to laugh at people who do.

Broken English!
[edit]There was much Broken English here, plus redundant wikilinks, plus incomplete names, here. Much of this article clearly had been written by someone who does not speak English very well. Someone who can write in clear English is much preferable. Also, there was a lack of common sense. Readers know what China and Chinese mean, and also United States and American, and also Australia. Some things are just common knowlegde.
