[edit]Nice article.
Counter attack
[edit]It is not clear which side was the loser in The Government’s first counter attack against the rebels had resulted in a heavy and demoralising defeat at Tuberneering on June 4.. "in its heavy ... defeat? --Red King 16:33, 26 July 2005 (UTC)"
- Thanks Red, I take the point and have amended but the sentence was followed by the one "The rebel victory had punched a massive hole in the dragnet..." etc . --damnbutter
Request more background.
[edit]Hi! The author obviously knows about this subject, but I don't know enough about it to put it in context. Would it be possible to provide a bit of "background to the background"? I am passingly interested in the role of Francis Needham. Alternatively, would you mind adding a line, or even just a phrase to Francis Needham's page describing his contribution to the Battle of Arklow? And the effect this had within the Irish Rebellion? Thanks! DMichael6 (talk) 10:14, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
British Forces
[edit]I added some detail on the British forces in Arklow and gave a reference for it. The reference, Ward is itself a secondary reference listing, Froud, The English in Ireland vol3 p478, Maxwell History of the Rebellion p131 and Musgrave History vol1 p540, but I have none of those and suspect they're quite old. I also changed grapeshot to cannister, as the former is naval.
