Don't we have?

[edit]

Don't we have information about the strength of these armies? At least there should be a approximate data about it. With respect, Deliogul 09:53, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, we don't have the slightest idea from the primary sources. Unfortunately, everything in the written history of 3rd century is too vague after Cassius Dio, Marius Maximus and Herodian. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dipa1965 (talkcontribs) 19:31, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the date of the battle

[edit]

Abrittus or Abritus, Terebronii or Thebronii or Trebonii ?

[edit]

Eons of scribal errors make the spelling so uncertain. In the following days I hope to find a definite answer. If Abritus is the correct spelling, then I 'll move the article. Does someone have the complete report of T. Ivanov? Perhaps there is archaeological evidence there. Dipa1965 (talk) 09:38, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The spelling is "Abritus" - there is a specific inscription found on a limestone alter in 1954 and referred to by Ivanov in his published papers - this was found at the site at Razgrad and refers (in latin) to "Abrito" - which precludes the spelling "Abrittus". Tim Ferdinand May 2010
Tim, it would be nice if you either provide a link for the Ivanov's paper or correct the current article, with appropriate citation. Best regards.--Dipa1965 (talk) 20:30, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
