Reason for the move

[edit]

This was the 1941 battle for the city of Kharkov--mrg3105mrg3105 08:52, 1 February 2008 (UTC) The German 6th Army needed to take the city in order to close the widening gap between the 4th Panzer Group and the 17th Army. In 1941 4th Panzer Group was part of Army Group North. 1st Panzer Group was fighting in Army Group South (inc. battle for Rostov in 1941) - so please change this incorrect information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.173.77.204 (talk) 07:36, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the Stub rating and the single source. It's clear that the article has outgrown them. BlackEagle17 (talk) 14:07, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet Victory???

[edit]

Eeehhh... Why is this battle listed as a "Soviet victory", when the Germans actually took Kharkov/Kharkiv (as the article clearly states)? Any particular reason for this apparently contradictory state of affairs?

Kharkov / Kharkiv

[edit]

The spelling of the city name here was boldly changed on 21 February with the edit summary “to reflect common English usage & for consistency within this article and with the one on Kharkiv”. I have reverted these changes, as the rationale is wholly incorrect.
The relevant guideline is WP:NC(Geographical names), which says “if…the article deals only with a place in a period when it held a different name, the widely accepted historical English name should be used”. In this case "Kharkov" is correct.
There is a fuller discussion here. Xyl 54 (talk) 00:15, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

101st Jäger Division

[edit]

If the Wiki page of the 101st Jäger Division, aka the 101. Leichte-Division, which was mentioned in the "Prepare to take the city" of the "Course of the Battle", why would no one added? 101st Jager was the 101. Leichte as it was its very first name when it waa formed in 10 December, 1940. It only obtained the name "101st Jäger" in July 1942, by simply, renaming it. So, I had to added the link to the 101st Jäger into the 101. Leichte. Minhdead2205 (talk) 02:48, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
