Gay marriage
[edit]I've made some changes to the sentence about Cohen's views on gay marriage, as there were some real NPOV issues. Considering that this is a biography of a living person, there should be more caution. I removed the references to his remarks being "controversial", as the source given was the article in question. Naturally, the article did not prophetically mention a controversy surrounding itself. If there was a controvery surrounding the article, no evidence was provided. Just because something is likely to stir controversy, doesn't mean that we can preemptively describe it as "controversial"; the word implies a specific reaction occured, and is more than a description of the nature of the content.
Secondly, I removed; "[he] compared same sex marriage with love for a pet and paedophilia". I'm wary of trying to analyse the article as that would be original research, but the two examples seem to be more illustrative points in a reductio ad absurdium, not to say that they were morally equivalent. Either way, to give that much weight to those two comparisons, there would have to be more reporting on those points in particular.
Lastly, I removed the section on the comparisons being criticised as logical fallacies. This was for the same reasons as my first removal. The source given was the article itself, which wasn't prophetic enough to become a source for its own criticism. If it was criticised as a logical fallacy (shouldn't it just be "fallacious"?), then reliable sources should be provided for this criticism.
My suspicion is that the editor relied on the comments section for the article, but that would certainly not be a reliable source.--THobern 07:37, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
