Baghdad Jewish vs. Muslim Arabic
[edit]Incorrect passage: Baghdad Jewish Arabic (and Baghdadi Christian Arabic) resemble the dialect of Northern Iraq, and more distantly that of Syria, rather than the Baghdad Arabic spoken by the Muslims. The Muslim dialect is classified as a gilit dialect (from their pronunciation of the Arabic word for "I said") while the others are qeltu dialects. It is thought that the qeltu dialects represent the older Arabic dialect of Mesopotamia while the gilit dialect is of Bedouin origin.
Bedouin's are Arabs and Muslim... The Baghdadi Jewish Arabic dialect resembles the dialect of Northern Iraq and that of Syria, both had Arab populations. The dialects have nothing to do with religion but instead with regions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.208.123.27 (talk) 03:37, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- But Baghdad Muslim Arabic is different from Bedouin Arabic precisely because of the qualifier "Baghdad", so I don't see what the issue is. Mo-Al (talk) 05:25, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Table rendering problem
[edit]I've been having a strange bug occur when trying to merge the two "Salaam" cells of the table under "Orthography". Perhaps someone else could try? Mo-Al (talk) 05:23, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
External link "Jewish Baghdadi recordings"
[edit]The link for Jewish Baghdadi recordings current leads to a 404 and I wasn't able to find an archive for the page. Looking at the website, however, I was able to find the site's archive which looks like it contains the recordings but they can only be linked individually.
