Reliable sources

[edit]

It is extremely unlikely that there will any academically reviewed or other English-language sources on this subject beyond those associated directly with the subject, or by followers of Meher Baba. That said, however, the sources cited do appear to satisfy the essential criteria referencing found here. I'm specifically mindful of these elements, which apply to self-published sources:

  1. the material used is relevant to the notability of the subject of the article;
  2. it is not unduly self-serving;
  3. it does not involve claims about third parties;
  4. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject;
  5. there is no reason to doubt its authenticity

So I'm removing the "reliable sources" tag, as it suggests that this article is somehow unreliable or dubious. It's about a notable subject, well known in India, interesting to a fairly rarefied bunch of Westerners, and unlikely ever to have more information unless and until WP provides an outlet for Original Research. --nemonoman (talk) 13:54, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recent addition

[edit]

A recent addition to the article has the following issues: 1- the timeline of the article is not in order, 2- the section titles do not describe the content, 3- the tone of writing contains devotional titles and abbreviations that are not appropriate for wikipedia content. Hoverfish Talk 12:07, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The recent additions by user:210.212.179.155, who appears to also be User:Mmraza111, who has done no other edits prior to these, are inappropriately phrased for an encyclopedia and offer no citations. Please consider first learning Wikipedia conventions and style before doing a large edit. Thanks. Dazedbythebell (talk) 19:30, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Caliphs

[edit]

I had to hide the section on caliphs, because the way it was written was not coherent. Please, edit it carefully so that it becomes clear to the reader who is who and who came after whom and who is the caliph today. Thank you. Hoverfish Talk 11:46, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have reworked the section and reinserted the edited text. However, the citation given does not cover the text given, so it is necessary to find a citation that covers all thse caliph statements. Hoverfish Talk 12:57, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Baba first?

[edit]

Why is his name moved to Baba Tajuddin, when his name is Tajuddin Baba in the article? This only causes confusion. The honorific 'Baba' usually comes second in such names? It should at least be consistent with the way it is in the article itself. Currently the reverse is not explained. Perhaps it should be changed in the articled to match the article header. Dazedbythebell (talk) 21:09, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly suggest this page be moved back to Hazrat Tajuddin Baba. If the "Hazrat" is not appropriate (for some reason discussed here), then to be moved to Tajuddin Baba. Hoverfish Talk 21:55, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Also there is a second article about Tajuddin here: Baba Tajuddin of Nagpur. Somehow there needs to be gathered some consensus on how Tajuddin will be handled name wise. The name is given as Hazrat Tajuddin Baba here I find all kinds of names for him online, however, with varying ones on what the article says is the official Sufi order of Tajuddin such as BAWA TAJUDDIN AULIA. Anyway, something should be figured out that all can agree to, or some principle authoritative name found. Not sure what criteria, but I second the nomination above. Dazedbythebell (talk) 23:22, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I notice now that the recent move of the name from Hazrat Tajuddin Baba by User:VrMUSLIM was his first edit on Wikipedia. Normally an article is moved after a discussion to achieve consensus of interested editors. So far, the consensus appears to be to move the name back to where it was. Please discuss. Dazedbythebell (talk) 23:50, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I see no protest in moving this site back to Hazrat Tajuddin Baba in 9 days, so I will try to do it now. One reason to move it is to see how many links are currently going to Hazrat Tajuddin Baba: [[3]]. If you scroll down you will see how many go to the original name. Also there was no discussion when it was moved, and it was a user's first edit who likely did it in good faith. Dazedbythebell (talk) 15:47, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Citations

[edit]

I did not want to mark up the article with 'citation needed' or a banner at the top, which could take a long time to remove, but wanted to point out here that this article is badly in need of some citations. If anyone knows of a printed book that has information on Tajuddin, please help. Dazedbythebell (talk) 23:36, 19 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Page Return

[edit]

I have moved the page back to its original place, as per the discussion above under Baba First?. A google search shows Tajuddin is known by many names, yet on Wikipedia 270 articles link to "Hazrat Tajuddin Baba.". Also it had been moved by a first time user in good faith who did not know that such a move requires discussion and consensus. One suggestion is that other names be given for Tajuddin. However, a search for names on Google reveals so many names it would be difficult to know which to choose in a list. Among many names he is called Baba Tajuddin Aulia and Hazrat Syed Mohammed Baba Tajuddin Aulia, and there are other versions. However, the name as given as the article header is the most common on Google. [4] Dazedbythebell (talk) 15:55, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The "Five Perfect Masters"

[edit]

I deleted the section added by Danice thrall that was copied and pasted from Perfect Master (Meher Baba)#The Five Perfect Masters, an article on the teachings of Meher Baba. That is a teaching by Meher Baba, and does not belong in the Wikipedia article about Tajuddin Baba. Dazedbythebell (talk)

Danice, I see you have chosen to put it back here, and on three other articles. This is useful information about what Meher Baba taught. And it is in the correct place in its own page on that subject. However to put Baba's teaching on the pages of other masters, with their own disciples, of different traditions, with different teachings, is simply to proselytize. It will not last in those articles, which are meant to be on the lives and teachings of those particular masters. So "spreading Baba's message" on other articles is not going to hold up on Wikipedia. Tajuddin baba dargah pics i have added ...But Wikipedia deleted my pics Plz add my pics on Gallery Syed Shizan Taji (talk) 13:01, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I deleted the gallery because it was greatly excessive for a small biographical article of this nature. I have left one photo in the article, of Tajuddin Muhammad Badruddin himself. It is enough. Best regards, George Custer's Sabre (talk) 13:12, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
