Copyright concerns
[edit]This page was a near copy-paste from Koei wikia, a very distant cousin under the Meta-wiki license. I am the original author of the translated content and this was not used with my permission.
October 2, 2009 on Koei wiki; March 22, 2010 on English wikipedia.
The article was erased on the wikia since she wasn't a confirmed character at the time. When she was, the page was revived. The erased historical section was placed back and she was given an original name for the game in question. This is what the current version looks like.
I can also personally vouch for Sento-in not particularly meeting the notability guidelines for English Wikipedia. She doesn't do any famous deeds like her younger brother and she wasn't a particularly distinguished figure for her family history. She is not clearly romanticized in anyway aside from her possible recommendation for Naoe Kanetsugu and her possible defense for her son-in-law. Even then, this is minor compared to the scope of focus that English Wikipedia strives for.
I do not mind people borrowing information from the wiki, but I am not willing to tolerate verbatim copies. I humbly request that this page be blanked or deleted as it was purely made to satisfy a character being in a game rather than for a proper historical context. I am sorry that the content was copied over without proper attribution and will speak with the contributor about that, but I have remedied it and the content is not deletable under our copyright policies because it is freely licensed. If you wish to propose that the article be deleted for other concerns, please see Wikipedia:Deletion policy for possible processes. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:21, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- That's truly disappointing but understandable. I was mainly requesting this since I remembered reading somewhere in the Wikipedia guidelines that original authors of wiki content can request something of this nature if it was copied without their permission. I guess it's not around anymore -I don't really keep up with Wikipedia too much- so it's a shame. Thank you for addressing the issue. Sake neko (talk) 04:22, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
- I am not familiar with that particular rule; perhaps it predates me. But if you think that the article is not notable, you do have other options under the deletion policy. You could propose it for WP:PROD, for instance, and if nobody disagrees that the article should be deleted, it typically will be after a week. Alternatively, if you think that it would be appropriate to redirect the article to a more famous member of her family whose article mentions her, that would be appropriate, too. In either case, if somebody objects, you would need to get community consensus from that point. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:34, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
