X-Men: Evolution

Dear User:58.72.216.52, I really appreciate your enthusiastic and -very- extensive info on the X-Men Evolution version of Avalanche. But even as a fellow XME fan, I think that following 40-line paragraph is really too much. :)

In the X-Men: Evolution cartoon, his name is Lance Alvers, and he comes from the same city as Kitty Pryde. As his failing attempts to impress Kitty his love for her keeps growing even with being mocked by his team the Brotherhood (Quicksilver, Toad, Blob, Boom Boom(during her stay at the Brotherhood Boarding House), and the Scarlet Witch). His first appearance is in the episode 2, X Impulse, when he seems to be first fascinated by Kitty Pryde due to her mutation. Other notable appearances include episodes 14, 22, 33, 45, 51 and 52. In the episode 14, Growing Pains, he and the Brotherhood almost reveal mutant existance but is stopped by the X-Men- he also saves Kitty Pryde from a burning statue. In episode 22, Joyride, he joins the X-Men temporarily, due to his growing love for Kitty, but is blamed for the New Mutants' night trips and ends up leaving. In episode 33, Mainstream, he is invited back to school after mutant revealings by Principal Kelly, who seemed to have invited the Brotherhood back only so that they would start a fight with the X-Men, which they do, though they lose; on the relationship front Lance and Kitty suffer, as Kitty's accusation of Lance being 'nothing but a hood' hit home hard and Lance proceeds to answer that he'd 'never be good enough for [Kitty]'. In episode 45, No Good Deed, he and the Brotherhood are accidentally caught in a subway wreck when Wanda(Scarlet Witch)'s powers go wry, and as they escape, Lance saves an old lady; the Brotherhood are deemed heroes for his act, along with Todd(Toad)'s claims of saving another man (who had grabbed onto Todd for dear life), and they take advantage of the situation, creating situations for them to 'save' people during; the plan takes a bad turn when Pietro(Quicksilver) accidentally sets two trains to crash into each other, and the X-Men come to the rescue, but fail to save the trains; there is an explosion, which is first contained by Jean Grey, who says she can not contain it, and when everyone expects the explosion to go off, Lance shows up and envelopes the entire explosion underground, with some effort; he leaves then, stating that the act would be the last of the heroics. In episode 51, Ascension 1, Kitty comes asking Lance and the Brotherhood for help in the fight against Apocalypse, , but they turn her down, with the exception of Wanda. But in Ascension 2, episode 52- the last episode of X-Men: Evolution- he and the Brotherhood show up and fight against Magneto, who is being controlled by Apocalypse. Lance and Kitty are seen leaving together at the end of the episode, and in Charles Xavier's foreshadowing of the future, Lance and the Brotherhood are seemingly a part of S.H.I.E.L.D..

Until now, nearly every alternate version of an existing X-Man (like X-Men Evolution, Ultimate Marvel or Marvel 2099) has been kept to a maximum of 10 lines, and I think this has turned out well until now. Please keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia, not a fan page, but anyway, I invite you to contribute further. There are enough XME characters waiting :)

just an utterly trivial Avalanche comment :-)

Sorry if it's already been posted here elsewhere and I missed it, but Avalanche's standard given-name of "Dominic Petros" seems to be a Marvel play on words, Dominic from the Latin "dominus" ("master" or "lord"), and Petros from the Greek for "Peter", itself from "petra" (meaning "rock"), corresponding to the character's ability. Might have been called "Rocky" in a different time-line :-) No clue what, if anything, his middle name means, though.

Powers

The section of vibrational effects on organic matter needs clarification. In addition to not taking into the Hulks durability, the section is contradictory and needs editted; however, I know very little about the character and the nature of his powers. An ambitious editors out there ... 66.109.248.114

I removed the part about the Hulk incident proving he couldn't effect organic matter. It seems obvious to me that his injuries were the result of the Hulk being too powerful to be budged and thus the reflecting the energy back. This would be consistent with Avalanche being able to injure Rogue. 66.167.147.162 06:22, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Lance Alvers

Has Avalanche II's identity actually been revealed in the comics as Lance Alvers? Because everything I can find points towards his civilian identity being unknown. If it has, can someone provide a reference for it?--82.7.74.46 (talk) 23:52, 20 July 2019 (UTC)
