Should this be merged with Autonomy-oriented computation?

[edit]

I don't know, but they seem very similar? Guroadrunner 08:50, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

people/arguments for Merge

[edit]
  • One just presents a representation of a feedback loop that shows the aspects of an autonomic system. Merge they are taking about the same thing.

[edit]

Autonomic Computing is best defined as self-managing systems. Self-managing systems are ones that are self-configuring, self-healing, self-optimizing, and self-protecting. Autonomic Computing has spawned an industry-wide initiative aimed at reducing the complexity of technology in order to enable the full realization of the benefits possible from a given technology or set of technologies that together form a system. A useful analogy is the human autonomic nervous system that manages many complex functions enabling humans to focus on higher level tasks.

IPsoft

[edit]

IPsoft, formed September 2, 1998, is a managed services provider, offering solutions to enterprise customers for outsourcing global Internet operations. IPsoft deploys, manages, secures, scales, and monitors e-business systems using its in-house automation technology, which automates functions otherwise done manually. IPsoft manages its systems via a worldwide network of data centers and Network Operations Centers located in North America, Europe and India.

BENEFITS OF AUTONOMIC COMPUTING

[edit]

“Autonomic Computing” is the fixing of IT issues automatically without human intervention. Such a feature is enabled via an historical knowledge base which correlates layers of IT and how they inter-relate.

The 2 main benefits of Autonomic Computing are:

1. better uptime as issues are resolved quicker

2. reduced IT costs as less human resource is required

This reads a little too much like it came out of an IBM cheerleader. Terms like "visionaries" should probably be avoided. (and IPSoft is definitely spamming.) -- 76.66.63.148 03:51, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gender Neutrality

[edit]

What are the rules governing sections like in "Autonomic Systems" where the "human operator" is given the pronoun "he"? Isn't this outdated convention? I've seen a lot of people start to use "she" in circumstances like this (I guess to shift the balance back the other way). Subnet0 (talk) 12:18, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citations and References

[edit]

On July 27 2010 I added a few 'citation request' tags to the article. In some cases, this meant adding a new tag, and in other cases, it meant removing an existing citations due to content and verifiability (For reference: WP:CITE WP:VERIFY).

Furthermore, except for a few examples, this page is drastically missing citations for key assertions and article content. Due to few quality sources for content, this article appears to suffer from original research. --FuturePrefect (talk) 21:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:MOSCAPS ("Wikipedia avoids unnecessary capitalization") and WP:TITLE, this is a generic, common term, not a propriety or commercial term, so the article title should be downcased. Lowercase will match the formatting of related article titles. Tony (talk) 12:25, 24 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Autonomic computing. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
