Fair use rationale for Image:GSM1918Ribbon.gif
[edit]Image:GSM1918Ribbon.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. BetacommandBot 01:15, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
List
[edit]Consider moving to List of Australian campaign medals. Harland1 (t/c) 11:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Lists would seem to agree with you that the title should be List of Australian campaign medals. However this page is effectively a subset of the Australian Honours Order of Precedence page, which does not lend itself well to that naming convention. Perhaps it would be better re-titled as Australian campaign medals Order of Precedence?? That sounds a little unwieldy though PalawanOz (talk) 11:57, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:VietnamMedalRibbon.jpg
[edit]The image Image:VietnamMedalRibbon.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. FairuseBot 05:48, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Has anybody established whether any surviving Australians are eligible for the Arctic Star? If so, it should be included in the WWII section.Lexysexy (talk) 00:59, 21 March 2013 (UTC)
- I looked but did not see anything from Australia's www.itsanhonour.gov.au. I believe Australia allowed the acceptance of the Ushakov Medal from Russia for surviving personnel of the Arctic Convoys, so I am not sure if this would run afoul of the prohibition on awarding more than one medal for something. According to the Royal Navy "Foreign nationals commissioned or enlisted into British or, the then, Dominion Forces (e.g. Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Australian Navy) are eligible provided the individuals did not receive a similar award from their own Government."[1] EricSerge (talk) 03:28, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

- I see on the ESO network that both the Arctic Star and the Bomber Command Clasp are expected to be awarded to Australians when available. The detail should therefore be inserted.Lexysexy (talk) 06:34, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Can you point us towards a link for a WP:RS? I am not sure what you mean when you refer to "the ESO network". EricSerge (talk) 18:15, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Eric, the link is http://www.veterans-uk.info/arctic_star_index.htm, see the eligibility criteria link. The question of the Ushakov Medal is a red herring - it's a foreign award. ESO = Ex Service Organisation. My assertion is based upon memos circulated by the RAAF Association and the RSL.Lexysexy (talk) 01:00, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

As this is a list of campaign medals, I doubt whether the MMM is appropriate here, it being a foreign decoration.Lexysexy (talk) 01:45, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- It's in a section of entirely foreign medals as its a commonly awarded medal to Australian forces.Nford24 (PE121 Personnel Request Form) 06:51, 9 May 2022 (UTC)
- I appreciate that, but my point is that it's a decoration as distinct from a campaign medal.Lexysexy (talk) 01:29, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
- I agree @Lexysexy, must have been asleep at the wheel. It would have been better placed in the foreign section of Australian Honours Order of Wearing. I have reverted the edit. Melbournite (talk) 22:38, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
