Requested move
[edit]The term Asian-Argentine is an original creation of Wikipedia; it gets just one other Google hit. "asiático-argentino" does also bring a lone site. Chau, Ejrrjs | What? 5 July 2005 00:05 (UTC)
- But it's also true that its Wikipedia format to use expressions such as French-Italians, Argentine-Germans, so it doesn't seem terribly bad. You think we should move it to Asians in Argentina or Asian immigration to Argentina? -Mariano July 5, 2005 08:11 (UTC)
- How about Asian ethnic groups in Argentina? Pilaf 5 July 2005 17:18 (UTC)
- Asian immigration to Argentina sounds fine. Ejrrjs | What? 5 July 2005 18:35 (UTC)
- Zi Prablam is that "immigration" denotes "movement", and the article should then be about the moving-out-from-home-and-into-Argentina, which is not the porpoise of the article. "ethnic groups" doesn't sound good to me, don't know why. Mmm, let's see... What about "Asian communities in Argentina"?. -Mariano July 6, 2005 07:23 (UTC)
- I agree and I agree. Rethinking it, ethnic groups is sort of a tong-twister, Asian communities sounds much better. Pilaf 7 July 2005 03:41 (UTC)
BTW, Syria and Lebanon are outside Asia, right? Ejrrjs | What? 7 July 2005 22:14 (UTC)
- Oh, May Gad, its the neber endin stori! If we say Oriental then it might be from Uruguay!! I got it: Communities of yellow peepal in Argentina!
- Ok, what about Eastern Asiatic communities in Argentina? East Asia communities in Argentina? Eastern Asia communities in Argentina?, East Asiatic communities in Argentina?, Communities in Argentina from East Asia? Communities in Argentina from Eastern Asia? -Mariano July 8, 2005 08:18 (UTC)
- How about we split the article per country of origin? I think eventually that might be the best solution for the title, and a step towards NPOVness. The only problem would be that each new article would probably become a stub, but that's only a minor one. Pilaf 8 July 2005 12:03 (UTC)
- Mmm, I don't know. I think they hold a lot of things in common, so I would keep it together. Eventually, if the article grown big, we might consider having a common article with the main stuff, and separate articles for each country. -Mariano
- What is it that they share so much in common? I mean, they are all very close geographically and pretty similar looking, even their languages and cultures have been mutually influenced throughout history, but they are still different people with separate communities, separate histories and reasons for having migrated in the first place. I happen to know many nikkei (Japanese descendants) from Buenos Aires and I can tell they generally don't mix with other Asian inmigrants communities. I say we should split the article and have a sub-section on Eastern Asian communities in Demographics of Argentina linking back to each article. Pilaf
- I agree that the article's content would fit better in articles on various (East) Asian ethnic origin groups and/or the already existing "Demographics of..." and "Immigration to..." articles. And yes, the Lebanese-Argentines are Argentinians originating in Asia.... ;]

Syria and Lebanon are also Asian countries the term asian varies in different places; in UK asians refer to south asians (pakistanis and indians), in america; east asians (orientals of china, korea and japan) but in fact, the term asian is too broad...in some european nations, asians can mean turks or lebanese. 202.37.167.44 13:00, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
pilaf, the east asians have different languages - actually spanish and english are more similar than mandarin is to japanese. differences in east asians is just have as much as in differences in scandinavians and latin europeans or arabs and indians 202.37.167.44 13:05, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Numbers need to be updated.
[edit]130,000 sounds very low. In the city of Buenos Aires, you can find at least 1 Asian market per block, and the city is big. Considering that a whole family works in each market, you have a number. And Asian Argentines are located all over Argentina, not only in Buenos Aires. The number is at least 300,000 and I think I'm still low in the calculation. If anyone has any updated official number, please post it. Thanks.
Exactly the chinese BORN population ALONE was over 100,000 in 2008. (http://spanish.peopledaily.com.cn/31621/6415237.html) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andyland85 (talk • contribs) 06:27, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
