Japan Ice Hockey League History
[edit]It's thin. The article discusses everything since the league became the Asia League Ice Hockey when it had a previous incarnation as the JIHL. The JIHL's history should be covered.-RomeW
- is there an article on Japan Ice Hockey League? If so, linking would be appropriate with a short reference to its previous incarnation.--Crossmr (talk) 02:27, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
Rewrite
[edit]I've been spending the last couple weeks or so putting together sources for a rewrite of this article. once I sort out exactly what is useful and what isn't I'll post the link section to the talk page and start the rewrite. I'll be using one of the FA or GA NHL-related articles as a kind of template for this one to get the content in line with what is expected for a hockey article.--Crossmr (talk) 17:54, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- here is the reference list I removed from the article. Without inline citation its impossible to know what is being used and what is just being put there for promo purposes. As I clean-up and rewrite this I'll put the citations inline.--Crossmr (talk) 15:13, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

I've finished this rewrite and included just about everything I can find that is relevant on the league in general.--Crossmr (talk) 11:18, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
To Do list
[edit]I'm taking guidance from the NHL article. So I think the article will need a section on the game and specific rules AL uses, as well as info on how the imports are used in the system. The problem that comes with this is that there is a serious lack of English sources on these things. There has only been one news item a few years ago on the imports in English. They haven't published an English rule book I can find, and I don't know if the arenas are built to any kinds of standards beyond what is listed as "international".--Crossmr (talk) 14:33, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Cup/Trophy
[edit]All of the English language sources only ever refer to the trophy as "The cup". I found one news item which refers to it as "The Championship Trophy" with capital letters. That is the best source I have on a name for it.--Crossmr (talk) 23:37, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- Now that Halla has won it, I may be able to get a picture of it for the article.--Crossmr (talk) 15:57, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Dead links
[edit]I've written an e-mail to the league to ask them to restore the news archives they've removed. They've done a massive site redesign over the summer, but only kept the points and game sheets parts of the archives. Hopefully they will restore the citations for us.--Crossmr (talk) 05:08, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've managed to restore several more dead links by going at the archives from a new direction. Archive.org has changed the way you search which has made it possible to find a few of them. However some of the original pages were behind flash intros which didn't get archived (like the all-star info). We've been left with 9 dead links. A couple are due to the way the site was laid out, but most of them seem to just be due to archive.org leaving giant caps in their archiving.--Crossmr (talk) 11:34, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

This 2010 GA has not been updated adequately in a decade. There are also a few uncited paragraphs and subsections. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 09:13, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
As original reviewer, it's definitely atrophied since the original GA so will need a fair bit of work to maintain GA status. Wizardman 22:20, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
