Album name
Hmmm...shouldn't the redirect to Arthur be the other way around? The actual name of the album is Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire). ~~ Shiri 00:15, Mar 26, 2005 (UTC)
Initial Reaction
"Very favorably compared to Tommy"??? That's funny I always thought it was regarded as a cheap imitation of Tommy when released, not compared favourably...Does anyone have a definitive source on this? (Not forgetting that reviews on websites such as RollingStone.com have been written recently not back then) - Tangerine 03 08:57, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- Response - Arthur was released a month before Tommy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.212.113 (talk) 05:37, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think whoever added that is probably going from the US sleeve notes by critic John Mendelsohn ("rest assured that there are many here among us who will soon be making all the necessary favorable comparisons to Hair! and Tommy for sure") and yes, to be fair, sleeve notes can't really be taken as unbiased documents! I'm sure it will be true though - these Kinks albums were critical successes at the time even if they were mostly ignored by the public and forgotten about until recently... Personnel Changes
Somebody changed the personnel back to how it was before I had changed it to make it correct. I am going to change it back to how it was when I changed it. Please do not change it unless there is a problem with my corrections. For whatever reason people always think Dave Davies played keyboards on this album and Village Green, he didn't. On Village Green I'm pretty sure it was Ray Davies and Nicky Hopkins, I think Ray played them on this. Somebody wrote that Dave Davies plays harmonica on this, I've listened to the album about 5 million times and have never heard a harmonica! The closest thing you could mistake a harmonica for is kazoo, I'm not sure which bandmember plays the kazoo, I suppose it could be Dave, BUT A KAZOO IS NOT A HARMONICA!!! There's also an accompanying brass section, most likely session musicians (I don't think any of the Kinks played brass instruments). If you have any problems with my changes I would like to have sources that show I am incorrect before alterations are made. Thank You!--Bappzannigan 00:35, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Pete Quaife on Arthur
I once read an interview with Pete Quaife, the original bassist for the Kinks. In the interview he said that he knew he laid down some bass for some tracks on this album, but forgot which ones. He also stated that he can detect his playing style on a few of the songs. Does anybody know what songs he plays on? He is not given credit in the liner notes (as far as I recall). If he does play on some of the songs perhaps it should be noted (the original songs on the album, I'm aware that he played bass on some of the 1998 bonus tracks because they were recorded before this album, i.e. "Plastic Man"/"King Kong").--Bappzannigan 00:44, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
screenplay
Does anyone know anything about the screenplay beyond what is in this article? it sounds like it got pretty far along -- was it ever published? (Could it still be produced?) --Jaibe 21:41, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:The kinks arthur album.jpg
Image:The kinks arthur album.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Arthur Anning/Arthur Morgan Information
Please keep the Arthur Anning/Morgan edits. The information is correct and the previous information is not. The album is not based on Ray Davies' brother-in-law's move to Australia. That was only partial inspiration. See http://books.google.com/books?id=RBUwjkYGCjcC&pg=PA131&lpg=PA131&dq=%22Arthur+Anning%22&source=bl&ots=8wqMZVorDz&sig=ZkLFrCgbbwiumqONjvdZ1SwkZVU&hl=en&ei=6yAnStGYMKbcMOK9pbcF&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3. The move to Australia is only one small aspect of the album. Furthermore, it is the entirely fictional Arthur Morgan's son who moves to Australia in the album, which leads to the fictional character to reflect on his fictional life. The fictional Arthur Morgan is a very old man. Much older than Davies' brother-in-law, Arthur Anning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.39.212.113 (talk) 01:28, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Expansion of Article
Just a note to say that over the next week or two I will be working on this article, which I will attempt to raise to at least B-class. This includes mainly adding info on sessions and the general theme, but I might consider adding a section for the songs as well. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. - I.M.S.
